I can't complete Society Quest because casting of key item gets interrupted

Steps:
1. I click on the destination and a Red Pillager spawns
2. I subdue it and have to smear it with golden aspic
3. The casting of Golden Aspic is constantly interrupted, preventing me to finish the quest.
