Petition to keep /firedance

SE doesn't intend to keep the fire dance emote! But I want to keep it! I love to firedance! They claim is has no application outside the event...but how does it have any less application than /dance??

"Like" This thread and comment your support! Maybe if we get enough they'll let us keep on fire dancing!

The /firedance is somewhat derived from the "Bon Odori" a dance performed at the Bon festival. Its purpose is to welcome the spirits of the dead and show honor to one's ancestors. The Bon festival timing varies, but mostly ties in with Japanese summer, hence its ataptation into the /firedance emote.

So to us, while it seems just a funny simple dance, to the Japanese it holds special cultural importance, which is probably why they are keeping it to a special time only thing, and I am fine with that. Just enjoy it while you can.

I am in favour of seeing different dances implemented.

I like the idea of having more dance emotes but sadly i dont agree with keeping firedance. It should burn with the rest of eorzea when dalamud hits... (although i say this, youll find me spamming it most of the day on Ridill lol)

I'm aware its a cultural thing. But its not impossible for japanese people to dance that way after the festival is over.

I suppose if they bring it back EVERY year, that would be okay, but I get the feeling we'll never see it again...

To make it year round would diminish its value and novelty. It is supposed to be a special dance, and can only be kept special by its limited use.

That being said, is the real desire to have this dance year around, or to have more dance/emotes in general? If we have a plethora of interesting animated emotes to enjoy year around I think we would be less inclined to miss /firedance & /snowball

Well I rather like firedance a lot. But if we had an equally nice alternate dance, I would settle for that. But I still like firedance, regardless.

It's nice that just 1 set of items made the dance popular

imo, need more /dance1, /dance2, /dance3

It's certainly better than my /dance. Hopefully 2.0 will have nicer dance emotes.
