Please keep the Red Glow on Au'Ra! Or at least make it a customization option!

Im a female Raen player and when Dawntrail came out, my favourite feature of the graphical update was my horns glowing in the sun! I, up until today, thought it was due to the raen being childs of Azim and so the sun causing our horns to glow (As Azim is the dawn father) was the coolest touch ever! Now to hear its being removed, i believe this removes personality from the raen and has really ruined my day. Please, at least consider keeping the red glow! It adds so much depth and detail to the au ra and the red really looks great as a contrast to the cream horns. Thank you!

I can't say I agree for leaving it as is, because it only looks good on Raen with peachy and warm skin tones, while cool skin tones (and they have a lot of those) suffer pretty badly with it staying red. I felt it was a little awkward too since they confirmed horns were hollow all the way back in 2015... I'm all for making it an option though, or letting light pass through with a more neutral color. Not to dissuade you, because I can easily see why it would look good on your character, but it is pretty unpleasant on those without corresponding color schemes.

I hope they aren't removing the subsurface scattering entirely from au ra horns. Kinda makes sense it wouldn't be red, since red subsurface scattering on people is due to blood, not any other cause, but not that it should be gone entirely.

I also like the red on my Raen, and it does compliment a lot of characters well. Personally I'd make do with a more amber-y tone, if it really had to change. I assume Xaela would get a paler or cooler tone as well.

I'm sure right now they just can't assign more than one subsurface color to a character's head (if it's all managed in one shader, with a color channel vs a map.) I'm definitely interested in seeing what they come up with.

Sorry, I should have said; if they can use a non-red subsurface color, maybe they could add some of the effect to Xaela's horns. But I have no idea how desirable that is to other players. It is natural that darker horns would have less of this effect, but I wonder if the shader was part of the reason it was omitted entirely.

Seconding this, it looks so cute on my Au Ra. I'd love for them to just make it a toggle. There are so few customization options in xiv anyway, more options are desperately needed. Then everyone is happy!

You can't let me get used to it, and come to enjoy it for an entire expansion just to take it away.....

I agree. Yoshi-p said there is no blood vessels in the horns but that is NOT how horns work. The subsurface scattering would still happen, more so because they ARE hollow. It might not actually be as intense realistically speaking but it looks so nice on Au Ra.

I found this inclusion in Yoshi-P statement on the graphics really strange. The whole reason I even joined these forums in the first place was to give feedback about the Dawntrail benchmark back in April. I was upset about both of my characters, but especially my Au Ra, so I've been paying close attention to all of the feedback from other Au Ra players and gave my own, both here and in the JP side of the forums.

I don't recall subsurface scattering to ever be an issue Au Ra players had.

Which is not to say that it never happened, I could have missed something or forgotten a post. But it certainly isn't anywhere near the main complaints about Au Ra that I've seen. It feels weird that there was a whole paragraph dedicated to Au Ra horn glow and not any of the far more pressing and reported on issues with Au Ra faces.
