All other DRK suggestions suck.

THE DARK KNIGHT SUGGESTIONS

After doing content I have realise how boring DRK feels in comparison to WAR. I have yet to play the other updated tanks but I feel like I am going insane after playing DRK. It is UNBELIEVABLE lacking. Pretty much the only fun I get is mitting DPS with TBN's and Oblations, which is a concern.

Mitigation

The Blackest Night - When hit (Like SAM) gain Edge proc OR mana refund - Follow up regen/heal when broken (Your Darkest Hour)
(Could turn it into mana instead to smooth it out, prevents zzz stuff like pre pull The Blackest Night)

Dark Mind - 10% Magic instead but gives a 20% hp shield that when break goes into 10% then 5% (Make 90s if too strong or change numbers on shield)

OBLATION - 3 charges OR 2 charges 50s

LIVING DEAD - Leave this mostly untouched, I enjoy watching DRK's dying lmfao. But make it so people don't die inconsistently, if they mess their GCD LOL BOZO! If not please don't kill them on 2.5gcd D:

Dark Missionary LVL 76 lol

Personally from playing DRK like I don't have hands I do not believe it suffers that badly from mitigation problems. HOWEVER, I think that Dark mind being rendered COMPLETLY useless against some attacks is TERRIBLE. Make it less efficient on physical attacks sure? Just like camo is on magic attacks. I would LOVE Dark mind to gain a shield and DRK has more of a shield Identity.

DPS

Carve and Spit separate from AD

Carve and Spit 1min cd - make it cost 3k/6k mana and heals instead of restoring mana

Abyssal 2 charges 30s cd Gives 30 Blood gauge + Mana + Heals

Salted Earth 120s cd / heals you for the dmg it does

Flood a gain on 2? Homogenise AoE gain pls. Healers on 2 DPS on 3 Tanks 2 or 3 just pick one please.

Delirium - gives 3k? mana (Not sure about this)

SPAMMING EDGE IS NOT FUN. I think that is one of the issues it's overall rotation lacks in, imagine if as a SAM all you did was spam Shinten, that's miserable. Giving it more gauge spends would be nice, even if they where to change the button it still personally helps, like if have using Delirium it would upgrade edge.
BUT I believe other gauge spenders (Carve and Spit reducing edge bloat would be more ideal as it will allow different buttons to be pressed instead, such as the Abyssal drain change.

Why on earth does it take NINE WHOLE GCDS for me to gain a singular Blood spiller... Then 8 GCD's for a single edge that we are going to either pool anyway or use for TBN (That won't pop -1 edge for you bozo!). A PLD presses 3 GCD's then gets access to Atonement combo AND Holy spirit. GNB presses 3 GCD's too and is able to do a burst strike AND a continuation from it. Making so Abyssal drain gives you Blood can help this problem, giving the main 123 more Blood generation can also help even just by 10 would mean 6GCD's are required for 1 Bloodspiller. Abyssal drain would also be giving DRK more mana overall which will help against the pooling mind rot that it currently has. This Abyssal drain in dungeons will go brrr and make me happy.

Salted floor thing (sht stain from being pummelled from autos) 90s cd's are lame af and 1min/2min meta for the win stay mad. Pref it being 2min in case the 60s becomes too bloated, DRK is more of a "2min job" over a 1min anyways and I'd like that as casual. And comparing it to it's brothers it doesn't feel like an either job as of now.

It's DPS numbers from my awareness is okay, so for them to make these changes and not effect their dmg would be out of my hands currently and I quite frank don't want to do maths right now.

They should treat mana as their gauge but more efficiently cause it feels very non-interactable, Delirium/123 Combo/Abyssal drain giving mana etc. damn even give DRK a trait that means it starts combat with no mana. Give it a unique mana regen during combat. YES could be way easier to just give it a gauge BUT the mana dynamic is very cool (Like BLM manipulates mana).

This is really good, and what's interesting is that it isn't even a full rework in my opinion. It's just some QOL changes that would make it competitive with the other tanks.
It's not that the others suggestions suck, it's that there are so many options that the community is offering to Square that there is literally no excuse for them to not make some changes - and soon.

I really like the Dark Mind idea - you could do a similar thing with missionary on the party. It just makes sense.

Thing with both Heart of Light and Missionary is it's more simpler for them to design fights with them in mind, even M3S has a handful of magic attacks to mitigate for example and therefore aren't rendered useless. It's kind of a nice way for Sqeenix to help us peeps in pf's too as in a sense it's a wink wink nudge nudge tank mitigate this. They could homogenise the tank aoe mit to a degree but I don't see much problems with it yet, have different scenarios for the tanks is fine. (Power level I think tank mit's are fine, if not HoL and Missionary being stronger imo, due to the amount's they can mit UNLESS the regens on them are actually strong then you could but a single upfront shield on them).

Yeah it is also important for a lot of people to whine about the job, but hopefully in good ways though. People saying certain suggestions will and can end up hurting the job further. Pretty sure a certain bald man want's complete identical stuff when you can shake things up and still have them equal in terms of strength and weaknesses. DRK's Dark Mind suffers from a weakness that GNB's camo doesn't suffer from when they have similar strengths in different things which is silly. The 60s cd isn't worth the OVERALL weakness it has, it's a really good strength (DSR P6 and P7 so fun) but then it's rendered USELESS in p2 and p5 and it's not fun.

I LOVE edging too, they can just allow us to edge but then give us different GCD's in burst. Can be same button like Scarlet combo is. Cause as a DRK we do Disesteem, Blood spiller and the 3 scarlets. So 5 unique GCD's. Then we compare it to let's say PLD, they have 5 unique gcd's from Requiescat, Goring blade, holy spirit AND 3 from atonement so total of 10 which is 5 WHOLE extra different GCD's. Being stuck to just press 123 in our burst makes it feel very lacking as that's what we just have been doing for the past 2minutes non stop.

It's funny because Warrior has less mechanics than DRK, it's literally just hit buttons as they light up but it's flashy and heals alot. I think it's crazy that people think War is more engaging even if DRK might suck to play

I'd be interested to know what more mechanics Dark knight has over WAR at this point, I guess TBN might be the only actual "Mechanic" DRK Has that is unique from any other tanks. APM, DRK is very similar to PLD/WAR now, Your 10% buff is something you basically never need to think about and aligning for bursts is something all tanks already do.

Not here to defend WAR fyi, I think all tanks need to feel a lot different, but it's clear that dark knight is struggling as a Job in particular.

Maybe patience? FF14 players worst nightmare possibly, cause yeah you're quite on point. DRK spams 123 so much it's just brain rotting honestly, I tallied amount of buttons pressed during bursts and downtime and just opener alone WAR presses 4 GCD's additionally ignoring 123. DRk gets to press 3 more oGCD's which is nice I suppose? But personally when 5 oGCD's are just the same animation/button it quite meh, I compared it to SAM and Shinten. But either way after that we spam 123 till 1 mins are up and now WAR is pressing 3 extra oGCD's and 2 extra GCD's... At 2 mins WAR only has 1 extra GCD but solely cause you use 2 of them during the downtime to not over cap meanwhile your just spamming 123 as DRK that entire time and you ONLY press Salted earth cause you're permanently pooling as DRK. Completely ignoring anything related to your darkside buff as well, at least again as WAR you're also doing a 4th gcd to maintain something >.< SO as a DRK just now you afk'd rotation wise so you can press 1 less GCD and only 3 oGCDs which 5 of them being edge... It just feels so lacklustre, that's why I personally feel like why it sucks to play not the mitigation. Mitigation is on weaker end but as far from my experience playing with it, that's been fine overall.
