Yoshida says he isn't shocked by Dawntrail's story mixed response

Final Fantasy 14's Yoshi-P says 'if the question is whether I was shocked' by the mixed reception to Dawntrail's story, 'the answer is no, not really'

I hope this is just a PR response. If Yoshida is disconnected from the fanbase that'd be very concerning.

Maybe I am coping hard but something tells me that Yoshida knows how underwhelming the MSQ was.

Let's be real, you can start a new story arc and make it good.

Let's be real, the story wasn't "new" it was "bad".

It's one thing to say disconnected.

It's another to say you're coping because of it.

Those who actually are paying attention knew his level of expectations prior to DT.
While some think it was said for combat.(I doubt it was only combat)

I think he knew the story would be underwhelming for many, and likely more so.

Threads like these should just be auto locked.

we already did this song and dance for months.

did this change anything asides act like bait, does it improve your opinion, did you become much more happy to express some sort of disdain at the game or devs or yoshi himself.

Did you expect him to magically make things better? Or delay the game?

This changes nothing.

For good or ill.

Those who love the endgame think they hit it well.

While the half that cares only/more for story have alot to say.

Something tells me we’re going to run a Stormblood-esque Post-patch where it’s actually going to be interesting(and not infested with a certain spotlight hogging cat).

There are also now a few extremely loose threads here:

- Sphene’s Crown: How is it different from a normal regulator? If an Endless dies, what does this regulator do?

- The State of Solution Nine: We already got a peek into this through Arcadion, but we have to remember: Soul is fuel. Soylent Green is People. There’s also the problem of Levin Sickness, which is physical and a cure hasn’t been found yet. Solving this problem is going to take a while since that is inherent to the reflection they are from due to the Storm Surge. The original Sphene even died from it!

- Division between the Scions: Just to get the record straight, yes - I get why people are mad about everyone coming back together AGAIN after we beat a BBEG from the Void, and also disbanded at the end of 6.0. I was in the same boat just rolling my eyes when Ysh’tola the Exposition Device showed up - but looking at it from a story perspective, what if 6.0 was all a pre-cursor to the ACTUAL story? Even I agree we could’ve fit all this into a post-patch story, but they probably have plans for the Scions to butt heads down the road - and if they don’t? I’m gonna be pretty disappointed in Yoshida for lying to us on the PLL. I want to see that Divide in beliefs, as well as paths they tread so that there are some conflicts that create an interesting narrative between our main Scion cast. We didn’t see it in 6.0, but it better be in post-patch.

as a whole dt isnt even that bad. the problem is just wuk lamat and shaaolani having nothing really happening. the rest of dt was really cool and interesting. really hyped about the msq going forward and i would bet something good is coming up. ppl cant hold all of dt accountable just for wuk lmao

It is by and far the worst Fina Fantasy story I have sat through. Don't downplay it. It's is THAT bad, what matters now is fixing and rectifying it.

- allegedly the crown is not a regulator. Also Endless does not use them
- Garlemald was left frozen with some off-the-screen help (but nothing visible)

We got the key and the crown. Wouldn't be surprised if we got some more Azem stuff. Solution 9 will continue in some capacity, maybe similar to Garlemald. Also in 7.1 Cosmic Explorations are expected, so we are going way away from those zones.
