An appeal process that allows an FC to attempt to acquire the name of a long dead FC.

Title says it all, for the most part. Currently there are many Free Companies that have been inactive for the better part of a decade (inactive meaning all members have ceased playing on those characters and there hasn't been any login activity) and in some cases, those FC's have names that others wish to use. My proposal, is for an appeal process that allows the owner of an FC to attempt to acquire the name of an FC that has been completely inactive for a set duration of time. What duration is deemed fair is up for debate. Personally, I recommend between 3-5 years inactive minimum. To ensure that the FC master has a chance to respond, SE would send an email to the current master of the FC whose name is sought to be acquired. if they do not reply within 45 days, the appeal would then be granted, that FC disbanded, and the name be available for acquisition. This is just a concept and is open for refinement, but I believe everything I have layed out is reasonable.

Honestly, inactive FCs should just be disbanded automatically. I think WoW has a good process wherein if a guildmaster doesn't log in in X amount of time, it goes down the list from highest to lowest rank to pass off being GM to someone who is active... and if nobody in the guild has been active in X amount of time, the guild is dissolved.

But yes, I also agree with your suggestion.

Better idea than this.
If no-one's been active in the Free Company for 80 days (The amount of time it takes for a Free Company to lose its house and the ability to reclaim its items), it gets added to the Orphan List.
Someone can freely join anything on this list of dead FCs and become its leader, then either decide to disband the FC or make it their own to use with friends.

So RMT has free access to ready made FCs and the contents of their company chests?
