SGE's Addersting system needs a second look.

I have never understood this. On top of making Scholar players angry because we're overwriting their shields, the whole thing just fundamentally doesn't make sense to me from a design perspective.

Design-wise, it's a simple compensation mechanism. Let's look at a good example of that:
With White Mage, you have the Blood Lily system. Since White Mage has to use GCDs for most of their heals, they're not doing damage while they're healing. If you use a lily heal, you get 1/3 of a Blood Lily. Blood Lily does 4 glares worth of damage. So, 4 GCDs to do 4 GCDs worth of damage. Simple, effective. Also leaves room for more skillful players to get more mileage out of it through using it during buff windows.

Toxikon, fundamentally, is a movement tool. And how do you get this movement tool? By casting a GCD shield. On top of Sage already being arguably the most mobile healer even without this ability, shielding is already instant cast. It's not like you're having to stop to commit to it. So why are we getting a movement tool as compensation for an action that is completely unrelated to movement? What is the philosophy behind this?

I think this really needs some changes. For the sanity of both Sage and Scholar mains everywhere.

I don't mind that it's unrelated to movement, since it promotes good planning, basically only giving you 3 gcds of free movement that come back at a rate that can be controlled for. My only issue is that it is inherently dps negitive, so the smoother a fight goes the few you have until you ultimately only get three to work with as people are geared, and healing is optimized.

I'd like to see Sage get something similar to Black Mage's old Thundercloud procs to help pad out the Addersting system. In addition to a GCD shield breaking, each tick of a DoT set by a Sage has a 5-10% chance to give you a single use of Addersting. They could adjust the length that E.Dosis and Dysk (say 21 seconds?) to help balance it out a bit more and set Sage apart from the other healers. Heck, if they wanna take it a step further, they could have Addersting stacks gained from GCD shielding be a slight damage gain while those from procs deal damage similarly to current sting/toxicon. That way good usage and timing of GCD shields feels super rewarding
