gil missing from retainer

This morning when checking the sales of my retainers, they both had some. One of them had the expected amount of gil but the other had zero gil in spite of the sales history showing two recent sales for 38,000 each and the for sale inventory showing the two items missing. I have had many hundreds of sales so I am aware of how the interaction normally works :) Thanks for any help with this.
