Safe to Meld Crafter Gear?

I\\'m pretty new to the Crafter scene and the first time I\\'ve committed to it at the beginning of an xpac.

Anyways, is the 100 gear we have now what we\\'ll have for a while? I know battle gear is coming with Savage, but IDK when we get new Crafter/Gather crafted gear and if I should wait to Meld or not.

We will get new left side gear and tools in 7.1 and a full set of new left and right gear in 7.3

So you basically have 3 options

1) expensive- overmeld everything with the high tier Materia
2) medium- overmeld the accessories with high tier materia and the left side pieces with cheap materia
3) cheap- overmeld the accessories and only partially overmeld the left side, you’ll need food and HQ materials to meet breakpoints if you do this. Also note on gathers if you don’t meet their breakpoints you won’t even see the nodes so it’s safer to meld higher on them

Good to know! I appreciate the advice. I have a good bit of materia to probably get moderate overmelds between the 9s and 10s I have stacked up and prep for the really expensive left side with 7.1.

If you plan to dive deep into Master crafting once those recipes are released in 7.5, I would hold off doing advanced melding until we see what the crafting requirements are. It should be safe enough to fill sockets with your choice of Xs or XIIs, and the first advanced meld with Cunning XII if the item will allow +11 CP (and you didn't put it into a socket). But I would wait before doing more than that.

Awesome, I may do this, although holding off for the better part of 2 years would take some serious willpower!

Lol okay you saw my typo. I meant 7.05 of course.

Right now, we know the expensive and mid tier melds, once 7.05 releases, we'll know the absolute minimum stats needed to hit certain breakpoints.
Like already suggested, it's usually worth melding the right side (accessories) because they will last for a couple of patches; sometimes you can even hold on to them until the end of the expansion depending on what your goal is as a crafter.
