Materia needs a rework
Right now it's crit, DH = Determination, skill/spell speed. It's so boring. If you don't do it properly, it's a trap to be "bad". If you give options like this you need to work them properly, as proper systems. Right now it's functionally broken as a system. Originally it was to add extra dps while being able to get your hit rate up. That doesn't matter now, all that matters is getting that crit during the 2 min burst.
Fix the 2 min burst, fix the materia. Fix skill speed so it's not a "noob trap", because for bloody sake it shouldn't be one. That's just terrible game design.

On top of it the only real way to know what a materia does truly for you, beyond reading whatever vague tooltip you get ingame, is to ask the actual math wizards that did the calculations to see what to meld and where. There is no agency whatsoever. Most people that ask whether it's in novice chat or normal chat is "what do I meld for job X?", and you tell them unironically "just meld crit then det then dh" because all 3 stats increase damage but in different amounts, or you point them at BiS sets if they intend to farm savage.

I feel like we need Materia sets we can swap through, It's so exhausting wanting to play all the tanks optimally, but playing gnb at 2.4sks and pld at 2.5sks requires me to remeld my gear, which considering how that has a chance to break the materia when using the new max ones it's just confusing on why they would make some tanks super rigid for alignment and some just "f it we ball" and just don't care about sks nearly as much.
