Why not? It's not fair...
When we make products that are basically gear then we will have it. That's how it is for everyone else making consumable goods, not just culinarians.
I thing it's ok to have Culinarians the touch up function.
But only for one serve quantity recipe or it won't fair to other class as well.
If someone want to talk about material need.
Culinarian seem to need various materials per crafts but most of them are raw.
But if you dig the most equipment's recipe, needed materials need to be crafts. So it's more complicate to made equipment.
It seems a bit silly but it is possible that a cook could craft a sword of food or like a helmet. It would be far down the line but with how they have sub classes needed in several aspects of crafting, why not smithing sub for cooking? It could happen. =P (Bagel Sword +3 ftw!)
Edit: On a serious note, they would need to change the synthesis system to allow touch up on every item, not just culinarian, if they would allow it for our food. Most food creates more than just one serving of an item when made, when no other item in the game that has touch up makes more than just 1 item. Do you see that problem? Even if they allowed touch up for the food that only made 1 serving per synth, they still stack to 12. What items use 'touch up' that even stack? There is a trend with what has touch up and what doesn't, and food isn't one of those things atm.
Food based weapons? Hell yea! Give me a Noodle lance. Some food based armor would be funny too. Make Miqo'te look more edible than they already do, meow.
Edible underwear might make non-aggressive monsters become aggressive because they are hungry lol. Shoo you marmots, my nuts aren't the ones you want!
Perhaps an "Add Garnish" selection should be added instead!
Culinarian needs to have something to make profit on...
