Why SE removed the imperial invasion event?

The one where you could get elixir from mobs and other medicine at the end?

The Empire is probably trying to regroup now that Van Darnus has basically abandoned his post to go off and pursue his own agenda.

Nope, but at this point in time that event only really serves a source for (a tiny bit) expensive medicines, since the plot behind it no longer makes sense given the recent patches. It was always a "live" event so it was odd that it was still around for as long as it was though.

That particular invasion event was a series of paradropped troops, sent in to attack and distract the cities in order to cover up the creation of Castrum Novum and the things in there.
Since that part of the plot is theoretically done with, and they have no more need for the diversionary tactic, the event is over!
