DNC's Gauge Problems and Design Inconsistency.

Hi! I've noticed a problem with Tilliana, a move that recieved a pretty hefty upgrade in DT. I mained dancer last tier, so this issue is pretty important to me.

In DT, Classes such as Red Mage were given changes to their moves that used to boost their job gauge, so that they wouldn't overcap.

However, DNC seemed to be overlooked in this aspect, and that's the only way I can see this oversight, as something that simply wasn't caught.

It's very easy now to overcap esprit with Tilliana.

Tilliana simply gives you 50 gauge, which, (having talked to DNCs) has made their burst feel less good.

It's a very simple fix, just give it the manafiction treatment, and make your next esprit move (Sabre Dance) free.

I fully agree. It is weird that for other classes the resource generation was changed into a buff that gives free usage to avoid overcapping the resource and yet, dancer gets an ability with exactly that problem. In addition, you have no control over how the resource is generated. It can happen that you use Tilliana while you have 30 espirit, but by the time you can use Saber Dance you are already overcapped.

To be fair though, there is one important difference to Manafication: You lose DPS if you don't use Manafication on cooldown. If you already have over 50 mana when that cooldown ends, you will lose DPS no matter what, either by overcapping or by not using it on cooldown. Dancers don't have this problem with Tilliana since its cooldown is Technical Step's cooldown. This means you can wait using Tilliana until an opportune moment, such as right after a Saber Dance.

Yeah it's a pretty questionable change. Everyone who has ever played dancer in 8 man content has experienced the "blink and you get 80 espirit" moments. With Tilana giving +50 espirit, a 2.50sec recast timer and having to use a few abilities to prevent drifting and overwriting (Last dance and the proc thingy) you're bound to overcap on espirit.

Also taking away 20 potency from our gcd's compared to EW only to give it back on 94 feels like a scam lol

They did it for MCH's Barrel Stabilizer and Reaper's Plentiful Harvest but somehow adding +50 esprit into a burst window that already floods us with Esprit was a good idea?

I’d really like Tilana to not give 50 gauge. I miss the 1.5 feel as well, it felt like a frantic dance and single weaving was fun. But, I’d settle for just not getting 50 esprit or having it proc the use of Dance of the Dawn.

Another issue, least for me is how the lvl 96 reward "Enhanced Flourish II" straight up removes the fun part of the dancers gimmick from every 2nd standard step. Like why? I'd much rather have stacks for standard step, or have the steps deal damage when you land the correct one or another step skill.

Instead, they are walking back on the gimmick.

Also lvl 92 "Last Dance" should have have been linked with standard step so that it matches the with the other buff -> attack skills we got this expansion. Rather than as is now which is clutter.

It might also be fun for Tilana to proc Fan Dance IV. Get another use of it in burst. Just a spitball.
