How is viper too busy but gunbreaker only gets one second?

At 2.4gcd for gunbreaker at 100 they need to cram everything into a 30 second window, which leaves you with one second. Barely. The window is just as tight in a minute when you need to get double down. You can't deviate by literal seconds to get the proper windows in on GNB. I've been playing viper all this time too and it has nothing even comparable.

My point of course is that this is stupidly inconsistent. Why does a tank job have a tighter window for dps than an actual dps job? Why is it getting simplified and not the tank job? (also mind you I don't want it simplified for either).

I'm convinced its because Viper is so simple that players realize they are playing it poorly.

i don't really get it either. The entirety of viper is "start with the purple skill" then the 40s cooldown combo keeps all the buffs good forever.
maybe easiest job ever?

and gunbreaker is like doing keyboard breakdancing while managing tanking stuff too...

I'm just glad it can dish out over 5000 potency in 10 seconds.

Lol this is so accurate. GNB is my main. I played DRK in SB and ShB and and have always played Ninja as my DPS of choice.

I love high APM jobs so viper is right up my alley. Honestly doing the extreme today Viper felt easier than GNB

...as long as I'm not the main tank. The dps part of the rotation feels good ***if I play as a dps*** but the moment you start considering reprisal, shields, potion, voke and shirk and I start getting tilted thinking on how my 2min is gonna look 4 minutes later XD

I've played GNB at 100 for around a week now and so far I think it's pretty ok. Reign is a bit weird to get used to but really it's just a 2 minute filler for where you'd put burst strikes so if anything it's less busy now since you don't go from burst strike to continuation and a weave for the old gapcloser.

I do think vipers burst is slightly busier but what people really need to remember is that we haven't had this job for even a month yet. We haven't done savage with viper yet, most of us haven't developed muscle memory for the job yet. People are bad at viper because we are getting used to it, for as simple as reaper was people were also bad at it for the first month. People need to use viper in the hard content for a while to really see if it's burst is too busy, the Devs also need restraint too. Give people time to learn the job and gain some data on players, don't wait a week after the expansion came out to suddenly change the job. It's ridiculous.

Gunbreaker was designed with 8 GCDs No Mercy in mind, that's one of the reasons Lion Heart doesn't have any continuation.
You can try 9 GCDs if you want but that's at your own risk.

As for Viper... Well it is busy in the sense you need to double weave multiple time but it's like MCH, high APM but straight forward. Once you get the hang of it there's no more secret.
Ironically the job is harder to learn but gets easier. Positionals are very fight dependant, seriously, playing VPR between EX1 and EX2 is day and night.
But you can just be lazy and press true north for every dreadwinder.

Dreadwinder is 40 seconds, but TN is 45 seconds, unfortunately, so that's not a usable strategy. It's best to practice without taking shortcuts so that you can use TN when you actually need it.

I personally think it's great that VPR is the new benchmark to which all jobs that play in melee range want to be compared to. It's just too bad that there aren't any tanks that currently break the 50 APM mark.
