Considering Viper's abilities and weapon, I would ADORE if Square made a Chrono Cross collaboration event where we get to hang out with Serge, Kid, lynx and Harle.
Would be a dream come true on that front. I feel if there ever was a time for it, Dawntrail would be it.
Maybe if a remaster or some manner of sequel or other related title was slated for release this year, or sometime during the patch cycle (and maybe one is, I don't know lol). Otherwise, I can't see us getting anything more than homages and easter eggs and the like.
If we rate plausibility of a crossover on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being 'almost definitely/constantly/it already happened' like, say, FFV, and 10 being 'literally never gonna happen given current states of things' like... I dunno, Metroid, I'd put Chrono Cross at a solid 8. Certainly not off the table and I wouldn't have my mind blown to see it, but it's nowhere near my list of most likelies. Especially a full-force crossover like FFXI is getting.
Especially because it'd just be silly to hit up Cross before Trigger.

as cool as it might be i think it'll just be references at best for Chrono stuff.
