PS4 PvP unplayable

So frontline PvP seems almost unplayable currently on PS4. The more players on screen the more the game lags to the point I seemingly die out of nowhere. In reality there is a big battle and just no other players have loaded and they have targeted and killed me before I even knew they were there.

Before Dawntrail all the other people loaded reasonably quickly.

I have seen similar lag and slowness in alliance raids to a lesser degree but I’m less conserned with the player lag there as they are not trying to kill me.

I’m hoping it’s just servers are slow and it will clear up once the hype has died down, but if not what can be done?

I haven’t tried to fiddle with my graphics settings yet, but I would hate to have to fully change all my settings every time I want to play 1 mode of the game.

What model of ps4 are you playing on and do by chance have an ssd installed in your console?

This isn't limited to PvP. Any larger scale content is virtually unplayable on PS4 since the graphics update. Alliance Raid, and Hunts come to mind. Sure there is congestion but even when numbers are similar to pre-DT I can not fight an S-Rank anymore. Just garbage fps and then death. I'm surprised SE forced the graphics update on PS4 players. I've had people say "just buy a ps5". Yeah, obviously. At least SE had the decency to provide updated sys reqs for PC users months in advance. As a ps4 player I just got the unwelcome surprise of "Hey the game doesn't really work anymore but we'll just let you unwittingly pay for it." I wonder if they'll actually try to address it, probably not.

That's just unfortunately on the ps4 itself, not much to do with servers. I was on the slim for 2 years, I only just got a ps5 a week before DT free from a friend, purely by chance, the difference between performance is night and day even compared to pre-DT, and I can only imagine how badly the ps4 is struggling post-D especially regarding hunts and frontline. It really makes me curious to plug my ps4 back in just to see how bad it is, it reminds me of people reminiscing over how absolutely terrible the ps3 version ran even back in the day.

Even with all the hate the ps5 gets, the 4's hardware just can't keep up for much longer, and I think it's safe to assume this will be the last expansion to be released on it, considering it's been on it's last legs even before DT and the graphics update. Try your best to upgrade!
