PS5 game access issue - how to install the free trial to resolve it

Some PS5 players are reporting that they are getting locked out of (or directly booted from) the game today, apparently due to PlayStation locking it down until official launch.

A post on FFXIV's official Twitter recommends to get around this issue by installing the free trial, but they haven't included instructions and the process isn't immediately clear.

After a bit of poking around, I was able to locate it and get back into the game.


How to find and install the free trial:

1. From the main page for the game, press the (...) button and select View Product.

2. On the product screen, press the (...) button again and select Free Trial.

3. Press the "Free" button, which brings up an Order & Pay screen. Confirm this.

4. Install the trial (instant install) and you will regain access to the main non-trial game.
