Is there a reason why WHM is the weakest healer in all fields?

Weakest DPS, weakest burst and shield heals, weakest mitigation. What’s even happening right now?
Before there was some excuse going around that because it was so simple to use it should be the weakest, but every healer plays the same now more than ever. Someone help me to understand the thought process in this, the balancing is not even close. Or should we chalk another line in the laundry list of healer issues?

WHM is the most played healer by quite a large margin. Gimping the kit and making it baseline for clearing duties allows the other healers to be more attractive and hopefully motivate people to try AST, SCH, And SGE. It's the only reason I can think of besides maybe they truly hate healers :confused:

This is the third expansion in a row WHM has been the weakest healer (besides like the first half patch of 5.0 because AST and SCH were broken on launch)

They just really don’t seem to actually care about the internal balance of healers. As long as they are all good enough to not get locked out then anything beyond that is superficial

It’s why SCH dominating the meta for 14 out of 15 raid tiers just gets ignored

They never really cared about healers, as long as they do similarish amount of dps, one can provide 2-3x more heal than the other and they wouldn't even notice.
It took them only 4 years to fix the lilies, so maybe by 9.0 WHM will provide more healing than the shield healers ?

At this point, I imagine being hilariously worse than the other healers is a part of White Mage's identity.

At this point the identities of the healers are basically
-SCH->always meta
-WHM->always hot garbage
-AST->either worse than WHM or an absolute god no in between and will be reworked every expansion
-SGE->how can you be the developers favourite and somehow always weaker than SCH

Since 2.0 ARR really.

While SCH was lacking burst and AoE heal back then SCH had more mana at hand for powerfull shields and of course dps. WHM would run out of mana fast. Lustrate was percentage based, so you could use it under Cleric Stance, the fairy was stronger and also kept healing under Cleric Stance and even if SCH had to swap out of cleric the damage came mostly from the DoTs which were still running.

So you only brought a WHM because there was no other option.

When we got AST with HW the job was undertuned, but only for a few weeks, then they buffed AST through the roof and since it was basically a WHM copy but with utility - well.

WHM always was the worst healer.

You know, it’s really funny that years ago people would try to constantly argue that WHM wasn’t as bad as people said and there’s not an issue, now it’s a pretty common opinion that WHM has been trash since the moment there were more than 2 healers.

I don’t get how they can get tank balance relatively decent but leave healers so screwed. Makes no sense

Because they have proven time and time again they dont really give a chit about healers. As long as the healer can get you though a dungeon with the worst possible person playing it then SUCCESS working as intended.
