Tuliyollal BGM
I had just started dipping my toes into Dawntrail and one thing I can already nitpick is the Tuliyollal BGM, idk how other area BGM hold up, but Tuliyollal in particular made me VERY confused. What do you mean smooth jazz is playing in such a tropical and diverse place???
Jazzy music would work for a Noir inspired place not for something so colorful and natural as Tuliyollal.
You see lots of gold, stone, feathery crowns and accessories, colorful clothing and lots of green, big pillars. You'd assume you'd get music that sounds ancient, I turn off BGM entirely for Tuliyollal and play some ancient sounding tunes from spotify. It's hard to feel the atmosphere right when the music is very off the theme and vibe.

I agree the BGM for Tuliyollal is way off the mark i turned it off as well. the outside areas though area bit more acceptable imo.

I kind of like that it doesn't fit your first impression, if you asked me what music would be playing before I came to the city, I'd guess something lively with Peruvian flutes, but then bam jazzy music. I mean all the NPCs do say it's a melting pot of cultures, and jazz is from the Americas...
I do understand the thematic whiplash that people might get though.

As someone from South America isn't even surprising when we don't even have the option to play in spanish but anyway, like the lala up there said i expected peruvian flutes not..jazz. even the default mount music fits the place well..In fact, this track from XI called Ronfaure suits the place well.

So I'm not alone thinking it was a weird choice. I think the night version is more appropriate though.

BGM is spot on and an extremely nice change as well, really is nice can wind down once in town and it is happy tunes, and it will grow on one for sure... we can have pumping BGM inside Trials and the likes instead, where it makes more sense.
They manege to make it a bit of a mix, so you wont go crazy about it either.

The part with the Saxophone(?) was the only good part as it's own thing. As a town BGM it doesn't fit at all. I was expecting something like Whitegate's BGM but nope,..Urqopacha is nice and feels like a JRPG however.
Side note the zone names all seem to blur together and I've only been to three so far, not good.

I haven't played through DT so my opinion might change but rn I really like the BGM. It's already a subversion of expectations and it creates the realization that you're not just going to some random tribal island. These are people with their own culture, interests and aspects. If it was pan flutes or something it would give an image that it's a smaller village or something less technologically advanced. But you can tell it's high traffic with a lot of passion flowing through it.

Disagree, the Tuli song is great.

Strongly agree. Music everywhere else is fine though so far. Kinda wish they took more inspiration from Chrono Cross OST personally for this expansion.
