I think Bozja works perfectly where it is at. I do not want that kind of gameplay all the time truthfully, things scale weirdly in Bozja/Eureka and I think there would have to be more then just some adjustments to make it work in the open world. In truth, I enjoyed Eureka more then Bozja myself so, to me, it wouldn't be a positive but I also enjoy there being different game styles in different areas soo I may be in the minority here.
It has some really good horizontal progression systems and unique builds with Lost Actions that I like.
But there are some Lost Actions that would be impossible to balance around, the ones that make Healers the best DPS in the game, or give infinite MP come to mind.
But I do generally like it, and I think the game is more fun with haste gear and the devs not being afraid of attackspeed actually feeling like it does anything.
Bozja and Eureka are one of my favourite content.
For rolling them out into the normal gameplay:
They are not good for everything above dungeons. We would just go back to the times of "BLM why don't you have quelling strikes?" (even so it was fun ripping aggro from tanks).
There are two places where I could see them though:
1. The overworld
Use that system or some kind of it to make the overworld and fates more interesting. The normal pve in those zones is just boring. With this system there could be new life in it (actions and potions for fates, and so on).
There could also be world fights from time to time using this (I think guild wars had world fights or something like that?)
It could also be a timesink for trying soloing of some stuff or duels that spawn in the overworld.
2. Alliance raids.
Hear me out.
Delubrum and Co were some of the most fun alliance raids. The most problems was just with the farming of the right actions and potions.
If those could be shuffled in then that could make for some interesting raids. Not to hard and not to easy.
Just some ideas. I think using that stuff could bring back some of that old mmo feeling without disrupting the core gameplay.
I like the idea of make the game hard but give gears that need to be farmed from interesting content to make game easier.. best example is elden ring game is soooo easy after you get strong gearset.
Implement such a system in overworld I agree, also I would like to add dungeons to alliance raids.. but not raids
It's more likely that any time you get skill/spell cast speed less than 200ms (0.2s) it runs into the underlying nagle/TCPNOACK problem where the computer will stack all the small packets into one, so the result is that they would have to change the netcode to always be a fixed size after compression and encryption.
Like if your cast+recast time was theoretically 0.05s (50ms, or about 4 frames of animation) if you press it 4 times, the computer is going to send one packet with 4 commands in it 200ms apart, rather than 4 packets 0.05s apart. I've seen this in another MMORPG. The Nagle on? you can't cast 5 times in less than 1 second. Nagle off? You can spam all 5 casts as fast as you can hit the keyboard and it will clip the cast animation.
The alternate way to deal with this is that "haste" and "slow" type of speed adjustments actually work as 1/4th casts. So if you are Hasted, all 4 "ticks" cast, if you aren't hasted only 2 ticks cast, and if you are slow only 1 tick casts. So the client animates it this way but the game client sends "attack" but the server goes "you're hasted, so you attack 4 times"
The fact that they refuse to import bozja system into the overworld is disgusting to me. The overworld itself needs life to it, after msq the overworld is literally devoid of any activity. Overworld should be full of critical events that are triggered by people doing fates, gathering, crafting, collecting, time change, weather, etc.
Eureka and Bozja gotta be my favorite kind of content in the whole game for various reasons:
*Story progression with a different characters with their own motivations and agenda.
*Active overworld.
*Logograms and lost action combos.
*Castrum Lacus Litore/ Dalriada and BA are fun.
*Relics.
*Glams.
*Gil farming.
*Skirmishes, duels and Critical engagements that can actually kill players regarding levels.
*Everyone can play their in multiple ways: DPS can tank, Healers can DPS, Tank can heal and so on.
*And most importantly: content made for large group of players instead of being confined in a 4/4 halfway dungeon.
Wish Eorzea overworld were this interactive instead of fates/ bicolor gemstones farm. Hope DT field operation doesn't disappoint.
