DPS Simplification - Just do Ultimates!

I have a message for all the dps out there complaining about removing positionals, removing DoTs, removing rotational complexity etc.

STFU and go play ultimates

If you want to use all your buttons? Ultimates You’re a Summoner and want your repetitive rotation to be fun? Ultimates . Melee sad about positionals barely existing? Ultimates

New DPS are going to be STRUGGLING so hard that they should have their entire role reduced to a single button. That way nobody can ever be stressed in a dungeon ever again. If you want to use more than 1 button as a dps? Play. Fucking. Ultimates

Very sad that I have to specify but this post is intended as ironic. I’m sick of people acting like Ultimates are some kind of fucking super remedy that will magically remove any and all dissatisfaction with the game, and if you’re ever unhappy you basically deserve it for being friendless static-less scum bag who hasn’t cleared ultimates. Yet somehow people genuinely think telling Healers to fuck off and play ultimates is a reasonable and legitimate response to people disliking healer gameplay

Even Ultimates would be more fun, if the job would have more tools to optimize. Ultimate is long fight and eventually first phases become boring during progress. If you can not optimize first phases, they become even more boring.

From my understanding all the issues people have with healers are still just as present in ultimates as they are in any other content. They may be less exacerbated, but that doesn’t mean they’re somehow gone. Hence my frustration with healers dissatisfied with the role constantly being told things like ‘just do ultimates’, even though that wouldn’t be a remotely acceptable response if DPS were saying the same thing.

Either way, the people you want this message to reach probably won't read it or care. The healer strike thread has passed 400 pages- there's nothing that can be said elsewhere that hasn't been said there, and if it didn't work there (or convince people to change their stance), it also won't work here (or anywhere else).
I understand the frustration, but can we take a page off JP and keep this discourse in that one thread?

B-but ultimates don't make my job fun, they just make my group bash their heads against the same scripted mechanics for hundreds of hours...

I mean, it’s related to both healer and dps gameplay because the whole point is that people have many valid issues with DPS and acting like they all literally disappear when they step foot in ultimate just looks ridiculous. That doesn’t apply to dps so why would it apply to any other role?

The issues a person has with any role shouldn’t be invalidated because of the content they’re doing or have done.

Furthermore there’s plenty to be gained from looking at how DPS and Healers both experience Ultimates and the similarities/differences between the two. Like the fact that you can apply a statement about ultimates to both healer and dps already points out that there are issues that can’t be solved by just ‘doing more’.

I mean, ultimately if people really hated the thread that much I’m pretty sure they’ll just ignore it and it’ll fade into nothingness like most mis-categorised threads. But thanks for the tips I guess, Forum Police

Clearly this was a major server glitch, nobody has ever had issues with ultimate! You will have your fun and you will like it! , no matter what role!

To highlight that it’s unfair to assume if someone is dissatisfied with their role that said dissatisfaction can be immediately remedied by doing specific higher-level content. When the statement is made against DPS it naturally looks ridiculous, yet it’s considered a valid argument relative to other roles.
