Latency issues

Hello folks.

I have noticed strong latency issues since a few days and was wondering why is that. I have checked my connection and haven't noticed any irregualrities but what I've found out was that everytime I played in the evening the game has got laggy so I googled and a site said that the europeon servers have started suffering since a huge amount of new players who came back. But that kinda makes no sense because I get those issues in dungeons aswell.

Have you guys experienced a similar problem yet? Can't say if it's me or the game. People around me say they sometimes do have lags but not frequently.

Have you done a Tracert to the EU servers? That'll show you exactly where you're having the ping issue with each hop and will show you whether the issue is on your end, your ISP's end or something along the way of your route could be at fault.

If it only happens in the evening, it could be due to your ISP doing something called throttling. This is where they significantly throttle your connection during peak hours, often causing significant issues for gamers. This happened to me once after switching ISP due to them lying to us, so I immediately used a cancellation clause in the contract and ditched the ISP.

Otherwise, increased ping and packet loss is something that has been happening with an ISP called ntt on the way to the FFXIV servers or due to DDoS attacks. Usually you can get around this by using a VPN. Forget all the reasons youtubers give for using a VPN. This is an actually good reason to use one.
