Idea for job system past 50
Hi all,
I was having a long discussion with a fellow player from my ls about the current classes/jobs, and how they could work +50 once the cap is raised. One interesting idea I had was to tie this to master/advance jobs with a secondary unlocking system.
Example:
Base job unlocks -
thm 30 + pgl 15 => black mage
gld 30 + cnj 15 => paladin
Master Job unlock -
pld 50 + blm 30 => red mage
With this you could unlock new weapon types for existing classes like mrd (scythes with drk job req) or gld (rapier with rdm job req). This would allow development to build more jobs on top of the existing ones for other roles, and would let players experience a new job 50-75 if the wanted a change. This of course wouldn't need to be as mandatory as the jobs are now for being viable as they would be balanced to the existing jobs, but just new roles.
The game will of course need classes for weapons not in yet and things like pets, but it wouldn't be difficult to see something like:
beastmaster 30 + cnj 15 => puppetmaster
puppet 50 + whm 30 => summoner
archanist 30 + thm 15 => sage
sage 50 + blm 30 => magus
musketeer 30 + arc 15 => ranger
ranger 50 + arc 30 => corsair
Personally I would love the idea of having only 2 or 3 more weapon classes added in, and instead spread the job types they can go into across 2 or 3 rather than just 1. It would also be a breath of new life into the existing classes if a level cap raise was to occur. This also can provide the support roles and mage additions they want to see without major additions on the classes/weapons level.
Has SE put out any ideas indicating they have looked at something like this as a possible direction?
