His animations are good, but there's a big difference between in-game cutscenes and rendered ones like his animations. He uses the base models ripped from the game, but I would wager he also adds more bones/etc than the actual in-game models have to actually achieve the types of expressions/movement his characters do.
There's also the question of how well everything fits into the style, if an ultra-animated cutscene like he does shows up in the game but only every once in a blue moon, it would probably feel pretty out of place. And rather than somewhat stiff cutscenes like the game currently has for major cutscenes, I feel like incongruencies in style make things look worse overall, tbh.
If they did hire him, you probably wouldn't even really notice it. It's not like SE's cutscene issues are because nobody knows how to animate a cutscene at SE, or something.
Well they can do a lot of crazy stuff like that like they do in the Hilidibrand cutscenes. They just don't normally need to do stuff like that because most cutscenes are far more serious and they want the actual fight to be done by you in a dungeon/trial.
Like for what movement/expression specifically? I am not seeing it. The models are all still mostly stiff, with some minor cloth physics on the hair and coat that already exists in the game. The rest is all just movement of bodyparts that were already fully rigged. And for facial expressions those are all using normal eye/eyebrow/mouth stuff FF uses for many other animations, nose/cheek/ears/etc is all fully static like ingame.
For me those videos are a good showcase on why FF doesn't need big changes to skeletons to have far better animations.
