[General feedback] Skintone expansion

The way that races like Viera and Wildwood elezen look with the benchmark had me thinking about this again, but it's really disappointing that skintone is race and genderlocked. I wish we just had all of the selections for a given race regardless of gender or clan as my character is significantly lighter than her twin brother because...she's a female xaela, thus she doesn't get good dark skintone options, but because brother is on a male au ra base, he gets the skintone I'd wanted for her initially.

I'd just like for there to be a wider range of skintones available for everybody, especially more natural tones like dark skin - GENUINE dark skin that you get with Rava Viera or Wildwood Elezen. Not...whatever this desaturated tone is that I'm stuck with for my Xaela femra, which is the darkest she can go without being purple or green. The limitations (especially gendered limitations) feels extremely arbitrary with the graphics update on the horizon, so it'd just be nice if I could actually get my wol to look like she oughta.

This is the darkest (in the benchmark) that she can get while still looking like a natural skintone:

Meanwhile I just swapped the gender and face around, and this is more what she oughta be, I can't get anything like that even with raen femra:

(also like as an aside....why do femra have blue scales? the black on guys is just.....nicer and i'd be tempted to swap to a guy if it werent for the fact that two of my favorite glam pieces ever are genderlocked to fems)

Throwing this back up at a normal time because it really would be nice to see them expand this, especially with how they've changed the labeling around skintones in the benchmark. It's frankly ridiculous that I can't have the shade I want just because I play a female character - have they not seen skintones irl? They most definitely are not influenced by gender, as media often falls prey to lmfao
I can't even make an accurate Sadu alt because her skintone isn't even possible in CC. If Sadu can have that dark skin and exist in the game, then let me have the same skintone range that the guys get!

Agree, specially the genderlocked skin color doesn't make sense. What bothers me most personally is Rava Viera are supposed to be the dark Viera yet most of their skin color choices are light skin; while at the same time Veena Viera's skin color choices are most 90% light with a few grey choices. Like, if you're going to give Rava very light skin you should then give Veena very dark skin choices as well.

Square enix seems to not ever want to give us the color wheel, ok that's fine but they should expand the color options since they dropped ps3, the game can handle darker and lighter shades now.

I mean I would love it if lalafells could be blue or tonberry green

Seriously! It's like they looked at the Viera in 12 and went "well, we need a white clan for them". Especially since when we do get Rava in the game (except for maybe Erenville), they exclusively use the light tones. Like, all of my viera are Rava because of the just general better skintone selection when it's not the pale range (also why are there so many pale options to begin with if their culture is supposed to be indigenous mesoamerican/south american). Even if you go the argument of rabbit fur, rava still get literal black skintones while veena get none....and you can't even use the argument that people up north just don't have melanin, because if anything they need it due to how harshly the sun reflects off of ice and snow. Inuit are a great example of how "snowy region dweller=white" doesn't work, and there are plenty of others. Why can't they have the same expansion and have other features to distinguish them...like I dunno, more noticeable fur than Rava? Rava have longer, wider ears due to heat regulation while Veena have shorter ears on average so they don't freeze off? Rava tend to be of average heights, while Veena are large because that's better for conserving heat?
The variation didn't have to come in "here's the brown race and here's the super white race", just feels weird to double down on it when a graphics engine update is the perfect time to also do away with the old skin selector.

PLEASE. My biggest gripe with benchmark right now is that they seem to have changed the underlighting on skin because my duskwight went from having a yellow undertone to GREEN. His *** looks like Ganondorf now and I'm really upset about it. The worst part is there is no place in the color pick options to get anything like he has on live currently, so a fantasia does nothing for me :( I'd love to see true RGB options for skin tones. I don't care about lore or whatever the reason is for it, I think any character should have any skintone they please.
