Keep SMN rez for 8.0
Let's keep it simple. After what that said in the Live Letter (they think about removing the rez from the SMN for 8.0), I create this thread for all the people that think they should keep the rez of the SMN. Let's react from the start, before they go to far with that idea.
I think that having that small plus is one of the thing that makes SMN worth having in a team. It's also the only class other than the heal that have one at low lvl, which allow new healers do make errors and still being able to participate if they die.
I hope this thread can serve to gauge the community opinion on that. Use the Like button if you agree, since if it seems that's what they're looking at.
[edit]
someone did the exact same thread a little bit later, whatever the thread, show your support.

I think I would prefer they remove the rez from casters entirely.

If they feel it's overtuned, I understand them needing to make some uncomfy decisions. Rather than asking for the raise never be taken away, I'd alternately propose that they add a pseudo-healer phase that you would never normally use if things are going well, but rather gives the option to eat an Ifrit/Garuda/Titan phase in exchange for a demi-Eos/Selene/Seraph... or, I dunno, demi-Moggle Mog or something. It'd be a trade up to lower your DPS for that phase, but get an actual effective Physick for its duration (or some such other healing tool) and access to a Raise. Would sting less than having it taken away completely.

I am a SMN main. Please do not remove Resurrection!!! (or if we have to, replace with a DPS buff, DOT, or some other healing phase)
I began FF14 as a SMN. Not for the SMN only but for the small chances to help with supporting the healer. The SMN rez being offered early in ARR was amazing. It made me feel like I was doing a variety of different jobs, which I have found to be unique to SMN. RDM doesn't get a rez until L64, so having SMN at lower levels doing rezzes is helpful for lower-level PVE activities.
There is also a hidden class fantasy for SMNers. If SMNers have a swiftcastrez macro, they can really help turn a raid around. Most people expect RDMs or Healers to do the work, and for the most part that's fine, but I've experienced on a variety of occasions the joy of being able to turn around a raid that went south. I was able to rez a healer who then used the LB3. It was really fun.
Without rez, what does SMN actually have. The Phoenix regen skills are nice to pop on a tank and stuff, but I feel that SMN has nowhere near the DPS that BLM has or DOTs. If SMN has to lose REZ, please bring a DOT back for SMN so we have more stuff to do.
I know SMN might seem too same-y, same-y on the outside, but honestly I worry that unless SMN gets something really incredible in terms of support or power to replace it's rezzing abilities, it will be locked out by metas.
Thank you!

Yes keep the rez on both SMN and RDM. Access to support is one of the only things differentiating the casters at this point, and they have so little already.
-
I'd personally prefer if they kept caster rezzes, too.
That said, if they do plan to get rid of them I hope they give Summoner and Red Mage some unique utilities of their own to warrant their removal.
-
Summoner gameplay isn't fun enough to stand on its own. Being able to turn a failing pull around or squeeze out extra prog with the rez is what makes the job even the littlest bit enjoyable.
I don't care if keeping it makes it harder for the devs to balance because the job is worthless to me with it gone.

as far as I'm concerned, if they want to keep a smn of this kind with single button spam every 2.4 seconds for players without hands, it would bother me if the only thing that spices up the class was eliminated.
If in an unlikely and remote future the smn returns to being a minimally demanding class, they can honestly do whatever they want with the ress.
But actually I really don't think about touching this filthy rubbish anymore, it's only good for doing RP in the estates and roulette at 6 AM after being dead drunk and partying on a Saturday night

I assure you they're not going to remove any raises until they figure out how to make summoner engaging to play.
The real problem they've created for themselves is that if caster raises didn't exist, both summoner and red mage would have to be balanced to do as much damage as a black mage. If a job as easy as summoner were able to punch in the same weight class as blm, the outrage from that would outstrip any considerations about combat raise balance. They're stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Seriously, I would suggest you not overburden yourself by worrying about it. It's clear to me that they haven't even figured out what they want to do themselves. They said the exact same thing about summoner's raise in the runup to EW. That was 2 years ago, and now they're giving themselves another 2 years of deliberation. They're obviously just kicking the can down the road.

Remove it. Unless skill holding smn back. Let people fail
