Jacke (Rogue Trainer)
How is this man's name!?
I had this question back in ShB, when I started playing FF14, but I don't recall if I ever got the answer. I just started replaying the ROG/NIN quests in New Game+ while we wait for DT, and it's going to drive me crazy not knowing the proper pronunciation.
So, I come to the lore gurus: how is Jacke properly pronounced?
-
I presumed the 'e' is actually silent, so it's pronnounced the same way as 'Jack' (as I understand it, it's an Anglicised version of the French name Jacques, both names being derivatives of James). But someone more knowledgable on the subject would probably have a better take on this subject.

(Not that this is always conclusive but...) Katakana SAAAYS [familyfeudbing.ogg] ジャック (Jakku)
(German also lacks the e. Perhaps to not have him named "Jacket".)
-
It always seemed to be Jack.
-
I've always reflexively pronounced it closer to 'Jacques' than 'Jack' (basically going for that lower 'A' sound), but that's just my hatred of homophones. If the word is spelled different then it should be said different, damnit!
-
I always thought it was "Jack" but like with the French pronunciation of the J since it's an odd way to spell the name, but yeah, it seems it's just the regular english pronunciation for it.
-
I always read it myself as Jack-kay. But with an eh sound.
-
I always said "Jack" and thought of it as an obscure Pirates of the Caribbean reference, cus Limsa and cus of how he talks.
If the katakana does say "Jakku", that is how I've heard the name "Jack" pronounced in other Japanese media, like London Detective Mysteria.
