Grand companies : the abandoned content

I'm not sure what was the reason for not continuing to follow up with this content was. But it feels awkward to leave it where it is right now. With over 10 ranks still not utilized or implemented the content feels unfinished and unsatisfactory for the investment it asks of the players to level

Reviving such a system does ofcourse need innovation and new ideas, of which I currently don't have. But maybe you do and if you do I would welcome you leave them here for suggestions on how grand companies maybe be improved on and further utilized

They could combine the next ranks with the next Relic Weapons. And the Relic Weapons then have something in them implemented with the Grand Companies. This would give us 3 different (if only small differences) for each Relic Weapons. Like the implementation of the Color of the Grand Companies in the Energy of the Weapons.

Even in Heavensward, the content felt that way. They felt that if they added new ranks, it must come with something meaninful, like commanding an ever larger squadron and gaining more power. They worked on it in what felt like a side project, as it should be, because I don't think grand company ranks are what interest most people except from a PvP perspective. They released the squadrons and then didn't continue it, and I don't really blame them for not doing more with it. How many people really want this over raiding, more MSQ, etc?

If I remembered it correctly, the Grand Companies are tied to PvP.. that's why we got those old PvP modes where it's a battle vs the 3 GCs.

They have said they have no idea what to do with GC now they dont just want to add another rank after X task so its basically just hit a wall right now.

yeah your pvp team was tied to your GC but its now nonexistent since everyone is freelancer by default

The Squadrons are tied to the GC. Another abandoned content.

I want to take squadrons to current content, I want to dress them up in latest gear as well...I want access to higher grand company ranks. What's stopping us from being Storm/Serpent/Flame champions? Definitely not lore. If they really want it to be lore based, then let us unlock it after EW.

I weirdly like my squadron more than the basic trusts because they're more varied. Idk...feels like a waste.

Lay off the Gatorade.

Feels like there's too much "we don't know what to do" when it comes to xiv. Surprising considering the amount of stakeholder feedback they get. Other companies would be jealous by the amount of feedback.

As for the Grand companies, I'd like to see what variant dungeons tried to do but using the open world itself, even if they have to instance that content. In essence we should "working for the state," whether it's crafting things for the locals or defending settlements from "Z rank enemies" in a daily quest. The reward? Plain old gil or FC; or per patch glamour which takes 60+ days of doing said dailies to claim.

The grand companies are not really content. ;) They are somehow similar to retainers.
