Maintenance complaint

Look, if maintenance is prepping 30 minutes before actual servers go down for actual maintenance, why even allow me to launch the game??

Why am I, as a paying player, afforded the opportunity to waste my time typing in everything and pressing 'play', connecting to the title screen of the game, only to get the 'You've been logged out of the server' message when logging into my character??

Granted, this happened under the condition that I was currently logged into another world server, but still... The fact that this happens means it should just be capped from the launcher.

Stop allowing us to waste our time pressing 'Play' from the launcher, if logging into the game won't be possible anyway. I'd rather just get that information from the launcher and have the launcher close until the maintenance has concluded.

The world servers are online and working. It's the DDOS attack that's disrupting things.

Some players are managing to log in successfully (then get disconnected). Some aren't.

I can log onto my Materia character and play for about 15-20 minutes before I get disconnected. I've played on my Chocobo character for about 7 minutes before getting disconnected. One of my Dynamis characters lasted long enough for me to water 2 garden patches before I was disconnected. This character usually can't even make it into the game before I'm disconnected.

I would say that SE should add a comment about the ongoing DDOS attack as a preface to the maintenance notice on the launcher but who are we kidding? No one's going to take a second look at the notice as they log in so it would be wasted effort.

You would be surprised with the amount of people that actually think this is, or was linked to the maintenance update... I had 3 people in my small FC today thinking the downtime was because of maintenance
