Idle and Weapon Animations
I've played the game for about 3 years now, give or take a year. This character is actually my second run through the entire game, and I've always had some animation envy.
The races I usually play jump back and forth between au ra, miqo'te, lalafell, and very briefly viera. I have a bit of a fantasia addiction if you will. One of the things that make me fantasia so often are the unique idle animations. For example lalafell sits are always very cute and fun, or you have an au ra /sitonground emote that has her legs tucked up into her, and personally these are some of my absolute favorites. Highlander female has another one that's crouching down, and again it's just SO good. I REALLY wish square would expand these emotes to other races. I get lala may stay special just because it is the unique short race of the game, but I would love to have the au ra or highlander sitting emote on a miqo or a midlander. The same can be said with male vs female animations. The one I'm probably most envious of would be the miqo'te male squat sit, or (to help tie this to my weapon talk) the male Warrior idle stance with the weapon drawn. The one hand throw axe to rest on shoulder is really cool and I don't know why it's gender locked. It should just be another /cpose we all have access to!
To get more into weapon animations... I would really love if the running animations for some, if not all, classes were revamped. I think my biggest issue with these animations is just white mage, black mage, dark knight, and monk. The long cane sprint is just kinda weird and looks a bit clunky to me? Granted running with a big staff does seem like a hard task, it just looks odd. Dark knight on the other hand just looks weird at normal speed. I feel like it could easily look a lot cooler if maybe you were dragging it along kind of like pyramid head? As for monk... I feel like I have to state I'm a monk hater. I don't enjoy the class, so I may just be very biased with how I look at it, but the monk sprint is unnecessary. I don't understand why the sprint is any different from your normal sprint considering the weapon is your hands. The monk sprint makes me feel silly.
I also want to mention that my monk (and almost all other jobs) are level 80 currently, so I'm not avoiding playing these classes for these reasons. I simply bring this up because after female Hroths are added I am going to be begging for updates to the races we have, as are many others. Whether it be wanting new clans for each race, or (something that I think is a lot more doable) like sharing animations between race and gender. I still do want every race to have their unique individuality, and maybe my envy could be solved by just adding more to each race, but that's a topic for another day.
