The Witch Doctor[/B]- The Weapon can be type of doll or effigy. It would make sense seeing as we got a dark cast (Black Mage kind of) and a dark tank. A Dark healer would be so different and the DPS could be hexes and curses dots that they apply to the enemy. They can put a voodoo doll buff on the tank to help reduce its damage. Let me know what you think!

I think it's intriguing to have a "dark" healer. There's also Reaper. after all, to include in the dark-themed list.

Personally- I'm not a fan of the doll/effigy, so perhaps something else could take its place.

Also, I would be even more interested if this was given to a new designer who was invested in healer design.

A dark healer would be cool but realistically this wont happen, its very clear the devs want a certain image for healers and the WoL in general (i.e. why we never got Thief.)
In general the idea of the Job sounds very similar to old Scholar with the dots and shields, one of the things you havent mentioned is how it heals, like would this be a regen healer or maybe a damage healer?
Try listing imaginary job actions for us so we get a better idea of what you mean so we can talk about it. :)

Gonna piggyback off this, and propose Witch (WCH). Witches use enchanted brooms as their weapon, and cast various curses on their enemies as well as beneficial curses on their allies. However, these beneficial curses have consequences -- a spell that helps you take less damage like a stone will eventually turn you into stone. But Witches cheat, and know how to counter any curse that they apply to their allies so they only reap the rewards without the consequences.

Sure, I mean if they can avoid tropes and focus on a darker side of class design /w curses and whatnot then I'd support it. If it's just a typical chick on a stick floating through zones while wiggling her fingers then perhaps not. I'd rather like to see FF14 go back to more serious roots. Ridiculous and absurd jobs like the Pictocrap frustrate me to no end.

I feel like the perfect 'edgy' healer would be Necromancer, but that is very very unlikely gonna happen. I feel like Chemist/Apothecary also has the potential to be an 'edgy' healer, but I have firm opinions that it would better as a phys ranged than a healer despite it being a popular healer idea. So we gotta think outside the box to find our dark/edgy healer.

Maybe a job that communes with the spiritual realm would be more lore appropriate. Ghostly guardians and healing spirits could be temp summons you could weave to dps and heal through...sure as heck would beat this expansion's dork with a paintbrush.

It's funny because that's essentially what a necromancer was (is?) before the whole "raise an army of corpses and laugh evily" tropes overcame it.

They just need to write the story to explain why we're an 'evil' job, but not 'evil'. Look at DRK (we kill like 15 Temple Knights, minutes after being told 'don't make a scene'), BLM (half of the cause of a calamity), WHM to an extent (since it's the other half of said calamity), now RPR where we don't just summon voidsent, but literally offer our physical form to them in some DBZ fusion thing. We can absolutely be an 'evil' or 'not-good' job, but the story always explains that 'no actually, we're using it for the good of the realm/people, and showing it can be used in a positive way'.

So, have the Necromancers we have seen and fought so far (eg the POTD guy) be the corrupt bad ones, who are trying to use Necromancy in a selfish way, to extend their own lives blah blah. Then, we are using the 'true' form of Necromancy, used to aid souls unable to pass on peacefully. It doesn't all have to be 'summon skeleton' and 'summon zombie', Necromancy covers a whole broad range of magic.

Plus, what's more thematically fitting for a Necromancer, than an LB3 that revives all allies
