The lvl 50 Archer ==> Bard transition is so weird!

Still new-ish to the game. Was loving game play and the amazing lore and the mind-boggling graphics. Got really invested in my Midlander Hyur Archer. But once I hit lvl 50 and activated the Bard soul stone and acquired all the pieces of gear, NGL, I almost cried.

What was once an awesome and formidable Archer, deadly and yet elegant is now a buffoonish clown-like reject from RuPaul's Drag Race (I can see her contemptuously wave her hand and proclaim, "sashay away"). I look and feel like the unholy bastard daughter of Sir Elton John and Liberace. Flamboyance doesn't even begin to describe this new "look."

I've haven't played since the Bard transition. I'm reluctant to reroll another character. I suppose that a lvl 50 Gladiator would be transformed into a Frozen Yogurt Push Cart Vendor. I mean, why not?

I don't really feel like addressing a lot of those comments, but FYI DoW/DoM classes turn into jobs at level 30, not 50. By doing the level 30 job quests you unlock the soul crystals to equip jobs at 30. If you're waiting all the way until 50 to equip a job people are going to get angry at you in duties.

Time for you to unlock the glamour dresser and dress to the appearance you like. The Bard AF is definitely polarizing.

I know it's bait but I'll bite:

You should have started the transition at lvl 30 instead of lvl 50 and it wouldn't have been so jarring.

I see you're a Level 30 Thaumaturge. Please don't wait until you're 50 to unlock Black Mage

You don't have to wait until level 50 to view the AF gear. It's part of the character creation screens.

The 2.0 FFXIV trailer has a Female Miqo'te Bard sporting the gear as well.

Using a bit of common sense, players can know exactly what their character will look like wearing the level 50 AF gear before they step into the game.

I still use the hand gear for glamour.

Also, players will basically wear the gear only until they get enough Poetics to purchase the iLevel 130 Augmented Ironworks gear piece by piece.

Not particularly :)

There's plenty of gear you can glamour that's more interesting. I would suggest, for example, the Immortal Flames gear from the Hunt NPC. The Flame Elite's loincloth for mages ... the skirt for non-mages.
