Benchmark - hair highlights

i know this is a very niche issue compared to the bigger ones (please don't take away my catboy's fangs :( ) but it bothers me just enough that i'd like to talk about it and hopefully be able to give some feedback for improvement.

while i did give him black highlights already back when i created him, they are now extremely prominent, much more than i expected. i personally don't mind them being more visible, my problem is more so how... unnatural? they look. like a patch of hair that went undyed rather than streaks.

generally, these hairstyles are more in line with what i would've expected for streaks in terms of shape and size to also make them look more natural:

i haven't been able to check every other style to compare old and new benchmark to see whether or not this is a consistent issue, but i felt it would be worth pointing out among the other things people have already spoken about, has anyone else noticed anything similar across races?

I’m having similar issues with my WoL who uses an older hairstyle. Not as drastic as yours, but the highlights in general just look awful and messy now. :(
