Restaurants in Island Could Make them Relevant Forever

Put a restaurant in the island that gives 1 hour of food buff instead of 30 mins, and 2 hours if you eat at someones island that is not your own. The food buffs can scale to mid-range food for the players level (not the best food so CUL can still sell things though).

This would keep island relevant forever and give a reason to visit other players islands and see their decorations.

What do you mean by "mid-range food"?

I honestly don't see this as keeping islands relevant when if someone is just after the food for the XP buff, it's more convenient to pick up a stack of Boiled Eggs for a couple of hundred gil from a vendor.

Like 10-20ilvl below the max quality food during any given expansion but at a cheaper cost and lasts 1-2 hours instead of 30 mins. Baked Eggplant is 640 for example so the food could be 620-630 quality. Baked eggplant is 2k each on the marketboard so paying about 100 gil for a restaurant meal near that quality would be much cheaper. Then another advantage of the restaurant would be that you could choose between all different types of buffs depending on which food you order. Would be more convenient than crafting and about as much work as going to a marketboard.

Food is not the most vital or amazing thing in the game however a restaurant would:
1) Give a reason to visit other peoples islands
2) Give a reason to return to your island after 7.0 begins

Yes it is more convenient to eat a stack of boiled eggs but they would not buff stats as much or for as long. Comparing boiled eggs to ilvl 620-630 food is not the same thing and there is a reason why high level food costs more on the MB because raiders use it frequently.

For crafters this would be extremely helpful, or if raiders are raiding with friends it could be a nice place to meet before raids.

They've been quite clear that Island Sanctuary is EW content. It's not going to serve any real practical use in DT. Don't expect the newest materia for cowries or anything else that could be considered current.
Like or Eureka or Bozja, they are present for their own expansion and while still there, won't help you much in expansions past their own.

Honestly, I know that it's probably just another, expansion only dead content feature. But IS could be so much more, I really wish it was just long term content that did have current rewards.

That being said the workshop spreadsheet mechanic, kinda is tedious so I can't say the gameplay loop is worth an extension. It would be need if they add in a new gameplay loop to the island each expansion that in turn gave relevant currency and a new reward. Like building a second base or some form of "Island Fishing" that is similar to ocean fishing.

It's just sad that this content is about to fade to obscurity.

I always was kinda bummed out that there was no fishing on the island!
