The 1.0 Shepherd Job & Island Sanctuary

I saw the abandoned Shepherd Class being mentioned in a topic (I honestly didn't know this DOL job existed at one point).

Wouldn't this abandoned job meld well with Island Sanctuary or maybe import the functions of how animals worked in Island Sanctuary to the rest of the game?

Imagine having timed resources from all regions based on what you captured.

So like for Thanalan Region Shepherd Farm: You get X creature's wool, eggs, claws, etc. as a alternative way from whatever you captured from Thanalan Regions. A good way to get materials without relying on smacking around monsters/beasts while you're out questing and not having to rely on the Retainers too. (except things like meat, skinned fur & Leather)

It would also reduce the amount of gil needed on the market board though most old materials are dirt cheap now.

Also maybe even extend this to Fisher Job where you can make Fish Farms based on whatever you captured, and even Botanist could benefit with certain materials that can be grown for a Botanist Farm (it would be like a extended version of what we can already do with Seeds at Free Companies).

DOL jobs have not had any real additions in a very long time, so bringing SHP (SPHD?) back in this fashion of what already functionally exists thanks to Island Sanctuary would be great.

Finally I would say there should be restrictions:

The creatures have to be beasts, and not actual monsters like Voidsent (wouldn't make sense narratively), so there is a limit to what can actually be captured.

I think the Island Sanctuary Animal Farm was a real blessing all this time, and the functions in it could actually work for the rest of the game. Seeing now that Shepherd Job could have been a thing in the past could really work out this time.

The Groundwork is already implemented, its just a matter if the Developers want it to exist now and worth the resources.


If the playerbase supports this idea or you like the idea, but needs a tweak hit the like button to show support!

I don't understand "assuming if we get beastmaster", it's already been revealed that beastmaster is coming albeit as a limited job but it is one of the new ones

OH! My bad! I must have missed that at some point! Thank you for letting me know.

Now if only we can get Shepherd Job...

Maybe BST could get an ability that lets them collect materials from animal mobs without aggroing, and killing them.
