Can spell speed, and skill speed be combined into singular haste stat?

Here are a few reason to combine skill speed, and spell speed into a singular haste stat:

1. More jobs that have a mix of spells, and weaponskills can be comfortably developed.

2. Provides more stat options for existing jobs that use both spells, and weaponskills.

3. Likely frees up item data by combining two sets of items into one across the entire game.

4. De-clutters player's materia stashes by combining two sets of items into one.

While they're at it, can they please buff haste/speed? It's an interesting stat.

While I agree with your overall premise on your last point it’s not really that haste needs a buff it’s that crit needs to be nerfed

Yeah for sure. It would be good if they like either significantly nerfed or outright removed how critical hit rating also increases critical hit damage.

Even if they nerfed crit it wouldn't suddenly make haste viable.
You will only take as much of the stat as necessary to make your rotation work within the 2-minute buff window restriction.

Depends on the class

Every caster besides RDM has a potential spell speed build that could be a conditional BIS if crit wasn’t so damn overpowered, AST and BLM especially have had BIS spell speed builds in previous EW tiers

Summoner doesn't have one either, the 3 different sets it has only exist to ensure you get 6 attacks out of your demi summon depending on your ping. BLM is as always the odd man out because it hasn't been shoehorned into a strict 60 seconds or 2-minute loop.

Warrior technically has a higher speed set but all it does is make your Upheaval drift. An argument could be made for Gunbreaker potentially making use of haste if they nerf crit, because that job drifts harder than Initial D anyway.

Healers are pretty much the only ones that can freely use high haste sets because they have no rotation to speak of and the few skills they want to put under raid buffs are unaffected by a faster GCD.

Can't be done without reworking every previous relic. And a whole lot of food.

Probably not that hard to do, they already replaced Accuracy on all old weapons before.

Maybe if haste lowered all ability CDs akin to what skill speed does to a couple of abilities. Would have to rethink the 2 minute meta though so that probably isn't gonna happen.

Why? you just turn them into one stat and change that globally, they did so with DH back then as well. And theres no food that has Skill and spellspeed anyways. And for materia, that doesnt matter, when they removed elemental materia or Vit, the inserted materia just stayed as is, the system seems to be fine to work with removed stuff...


Its long since overdue as its literally the same stat, its just bloat, even more considering we're gettin two more of each kind very soon.
