I get this error when opening the launcher and can't play.
Same here. Now it's hanging at the first screen and nothing is going on.
You're not using AT&T (USA) as your ISP by any chance? I've come across a few people having this issue today.
One thing you could try is clearing out your internet cache? Control Panel > Internet Options > Delete Browsing History (Temporary Internet Files + Cookies + History) - seems to work for a few people (and I had same issue a few years ago and worked for me).
Exact same issue starting yesterday. I'm in the SF Bay Area. I've tried deleting cache and cookies both through windows and through opera, I've rerouted my dns through google (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) I've run the launcher as administrator in windows 7 compatibility mode, and I've done all of the stuff suggested by Dynratygus in this thread https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/434266 (why do all the FFXIV forum tech support people have the wildest names? lol) I even uninstalled the game and after reinstalling the launcher it won't even connect to DL game files.
It's showing up for me again. It was fixed for a couple days, but started happening again.
I'm having the exact same issue and also followed the instructions suggested to another forum link. I also uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted, etc, nothing is working and the launcher either freezes before it fully loads or gives the system error issue. Yesterday, it was having this issue once in a while when I tried to launch the game. I did multiple searches for a solution and see this problem is more common than I expected.
UPDATE: Launcher is working again! After a 2nd modem reset and reinstall. I'm downloading all the expansion data right now, I hope this problem doesn't come back any time soon.
