Mac Graphic Problem
Hey,
After about a year I came back to FFXIV to encounter a graphics Problem (Same Mac as before, no Problems last time).

Shadows/"Darkness" are drawn across the screen and disappearing when moving (Character or Mouse) or are following me. Also, some display of different Objects seems to be off and Water isn't shown.
I've tried all sorts of graphic options, running in windowed or full screen and on maximum or lowest settings. nothing changes.
My Mac is updated, so the graphic drivers should be fine.

Might want to check that your system is using the correct graphics device, in the System Configuration menu under Display it will have something like DISPLAY.1.CardNameHere... <<<make sure it is using the correct graphics device as most processors have inbuilt graphics which this game can sometimes default to.
Also, if you open the game launcher and click the cog icon (Config) you can try swapping the DirectX mode from whatever it is set to such as DirectX 11 to 9 or the other way around and test to see if that fixes the problem.
You may want to check the official Mac OS and version supported as well.
And maybe if nothing helps above, downgrade the graphics card driver.

Hey,
thanks for the quick and comprehensive reply. Unfortunately, I could not solve the problem yet.
There is no option to change the DirectX in my launcher and the right graphics card is enabled/displayed. Also, I can't find an option to downgrade my card driver.
The reason why it took me so long to answer is because I redownloaded the whole game by choosing the launchers repair option.
It still doesn't work. Does anyone know where to change the DiretX? It seems it's not supported for Mac..

Usually, the only reason you cannot see the DirectX option is because your Graphics device does not support DirectX 11 and DirectX 9.0 is about to be disabled.
This may possibly explain why you can't see certain effects, but of course it maybe driver related.
The old launcher was disabled only recently, and the new launcher requires a DirectX 11 compatible GPU and also a 64Bit OS, which is maybe another reason you're having issues now.
What is the name your Processor and Graphics device?

Yeah, that would explain why I had no issues a year ago..
I'm playing on a 2019 iMac with
3 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5
and a
Radeon Pro 570X 4 GB
I'll see if I can somehow activate directX 11..

The CPU is fine, as is the GPU, it supports DirectX 12 natively.
Although it is on the weaker end of the spectrum, and you may have even more issues once the new Graphics update is out.
Check this Official link for Mac system requirements:
https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/system_requirements/
On that page if you click on the Mac OS tab it lists what OS and version is supported.
I'm unsure how to rollback drivers on Mac, though it seems like it must be a software issue.
