Any plans to make instant portraits more "sticky" and less "defaulty"?
I love the instant portrait system. I do not love that if I open my inventory too fast or sneeze too loudly, it'll revert my portrait to default, resulting in a minimum of 8(!) button presses on a controller (Start -> Up -> Up -> A (on portraits) -> A (on your currently equipped portrait, assuming it's default) -> A (on edit) -> Up -> A (on Save)) to update it.
This is absurd for something that changes even when your character hasn't visually changed at all, especially with something like materia. (I think this part was updated at least? So one small win. Crazy that it ever checked at all.) It's even more ridiculous since your Adventurer Plate deals with this like the Instant Portaits should: make the picture once, that's it!
This is almost comically bizarre and most of the time makes me simply not engage with the system. I imagine on keyboard and mouse it's at least fewer button presses, but I know it's still more than 0. Are there any plans to address this in Dawntrail or in the patches leading up to it?
It's so fiddly, at this point even a text command to "re-save" (ugh) your current portrait would be a massive QoL improvement, although a proper fix would be much preferred.
But the bigger question is: Why is it so fiddly to begin with? Why all the restrictions? Why does it matter if my gear was updated? Who cares if I used a pose from another job? Stop with the weird restrictions! Nobody's going to care if I use a gunbreaker emote while playing White Mage, because no one uses instant portraits to get critical information. Just like no one's confused when they open my adventurer plate!
