My name is not against ToS/Rules - Yet being forced to change it

Hi!

I'm posting this here as trying to communicate through tickets only resulted in generic copy-pasted answers, which makes me feel like no one is really reading through what I'm trying to prove.

I logged in a couple of days ago just to find I'm being forced to change my in-game name. After playing for a few years (dropped the game and came back to it a couple times due to studies and work/personal life), I've never had any issues with my name before, and this is the first time I find myself facing this situation.
I don't really understand why this name is an issue, as I've seen plenty of people using both of my names as part of their names.*1 My guess is that it's being "triggered" by the word "Loli"... And there is no way, in any situation, where it could result offensive to anyone. I took a look through the ToS and Rules, and there isn't any case where my name would break any point.
Why or what am I being punished for?

*1: Quick snip of a bunch of different characters using the same name. If I were to look for it in depth, I'm pretty sure I'd find over tens of different active players that are using "Loli" as a part of their name. I am well aware of the ToS and I am absolutely certain that my name does NOT break any of them. If "Senpai Loli" as a name is breaking the ToS, I would much appreciate it if you were able to point me exactly what points of the ToS I'm breaking.
I have always been respectful towards not only the ToS, but the community itself and its players. Please, I would genuinely ask for this action to be taken another look, as I think it's not only biased, but unfair. I've not said or acted negligently towards any other player, and I strongly believe that there is no reason at all.

In my case, there's a profound reason why my character is named this way, and I hold it dear and care so much about it. In any other situations I would just change the name and move on, but unless I'm able to keep my name exactly like this I will be forced to stop playing, as I don't see myself playing with any other "persona" in Eorzea, or any other worlds within the game. It just saddens me.

If I need to explain a reason, there'd be many, and some quite personal. If I have to put in words what it means to me, I'd need to take hours for anyone else to understand how deeply I care about this character, what it means for me and all the love I have for it. I don't want to change the name, and I don't think there's reasonable reason why I need to do so, as I'm not using it to do any kind of RP or ERP, nor inside or outside the game, and I always make sure to follow the ToS, Rules & Policies. It's just the character I grew fond of, what it means to me and what amazing experiences I've been able to live thanks to it... and I don't want that to ever change.

Going back to my defense; my name is NOT directed to the possible se*ual connotation "lolicon", as "Loli" ONLY stands for the term of being a "childlike female character/young female", which is just a description of the appearance of my character, a lalafell.
I understand that my point could be "dismissed" saying that you wouldn't know in what terms I'm using it, so others wouldn't either, so in my defense I'm going to ask: why then is that an allowed word for a name if you're going to ban it later, and there are probably over 100s of other players using "Loli" as a part of their name?

And now that I'm talking about this subject, I want to bring up what is mentioned in the Rules & Policies under the "Harassment" category -> "Obscene/Indecent Expressions" (can be read here: https://sqex.to/Rna7P).
There's PLENTY of in-game content from SE itself that I could absolutely classify as "Obscene/Indecent", starting from a big list of different provocative outfits, among other various things. If that is totally fine, why my name is not? Who am I offending? What points within the ToS or Policies am I breaking? Why am I able to create new characters with "Loli" as the name, but I can't keep mine?

I totally understand that this might seem like an over-exaggeration by me, but I just want to understand why I need to lose something that I hold dear, and gave me the opportunity to have really fun and nice experiences, meeting amazing people and enjoying the game with everyone else.
If the case was that this can be reverted somehow, then I'd beg for it to be reverted so I can keep playing with my character as I've always done.

I still cant grasp how such a name could be such an issue, there are truly more outrageous things to consider in world that should be look at and cared for.
Its incredibly fustrating and upsetting to read this, it really feels like we are at the mercy of either GMs that are not observant whatsoever to the cases they are dealing with or a automated system that does really takes nothing into account and just reacts to negative reports.

I hope this gets sorted out Nyaw_ this is simply not fair and ridiculous.

As I understand it, if your name got through character creation the GMs thereafter rely on reports. Most likely someone reported you. This forces the GM to act, because, be honest, that name is hardly innocent.

Sounds like some people are really bored... I see nothing wrong with that name.

Thank you for your support, I really appreciate seeing other people actually sharing the same thoughts. If I was doing ERP or weird stuff, then I would totally get it to end up reported... but it's not even close to the case :/

There are more offensive things occurring in the game that nothing is done about that is either inappropriate or straight up harming the game. I myself do not see anything offensive in that name and the fact is that any one can still use that name when creating a characters or word "Senpai" and "Loli" in any context. In reality this was probably one or two trolls who reported it and the fact that they wont even re evaluate it is just really sad and shows how little they care to maintain a decent and healthy player base right now.

It sounds like you understand why your name falls into an unacceptable area, and your main question is about why you've been taken to task for it now as opposed to earlier, and why there are others who have yet to be taken to task for it.

While I can't give you a perfect answer as I'm not an employee of CBU3 and hence can't see their code and processes, it's likely that the string "loli" isn't on FF14's "there is no situation where this series of letters is allowed" list. Because of that, it wouldn't automatically be caught by software. This could be an oversight, but it could also be that the devs think that "loli" is okay when used as a part of other names. Regardless, that doesn't mean "loli" is in the clear; it just means the acceptability of those letters will be determined by context.

It sounds like instead of having someone whose mind-numbing job is to read every name of every player character and decide whether it should be flagged or not, CBU3 has taken the more efficient route of just letting things slide until they're flagged by real players. Odds are that someone saw your name and reported it, and that CBU3 staff looked at the context and agreed that a player shouldn't be permitted to have your name. Which would suggest that everyone else with a similar "loli" name simply hasn't been reported yet. So if you want to make things more equitable, you could certainly report them. Or perhaps your bringing this to CBU3's attention will encourage them to be more proactive about "loli" and flag them sooner, or go do a mass flag in the upcoming days or weeks. Though maybe not; that's for them to decide.

The difference is that you are a player and not static content that was created by CBU3. Everything that the developers add to the game has been designed to function and exist only in the contexts those who own the game have chosen, and layers of managers and stakeholders have greenlit these assets within those contexts.

In contrast, your name doesn't go through that same vetting process. And it can't, since you are a living person capable of dynamic behavior, as opposed to static in-game assets that won't be changed or have their context changed without further developer changes and approval processes. Because of that, you are subject to different limitations and expectations.

Just ban all weebs.

I'd say it's totally the opposite. I don't understand why my name falls into an unacceptable area, or why I need to change it when it's not offensive. I already explained the context and the reasons why it shouldn't be listed as offensive.

Totally get your point that it's easier to just throw a "red card" to everything, but it's also a part of their job to review each case and if it's been reported but it's not something that it's against the ToS, Rules & policies, to act according to each situation. And even if they make a decision, I don't see why would it be wrong to change it or revert it after talking with them, giving the appropiate context, etc.

Just trying to enjoy and have fun, I don't ask for much really. I'm not breaking any rules, behaving incorrectly, showing any kind of disrespect, etc... so I'm just hoping for a good soul to look at this and think "hey, it's not that bad, no worries you're good". :/
