[Feedback] Implementing Enhanced Friends List Management in Future Updates

I am reaching out today to discuss a sensitive and important issue within the FFXIV community. This matter might have been overlooked due to various reasons, including technical challenges, perceived lack of demand, or previous unsuccessful attempts at resolution. However, with a significant update to FFXIV expected in the next six months, this could be an opportune moment to address this concern.

I respectfully request the consideration of a feature that allows players to manage their friend lists more effectively, namely being, to require both parties to have a person on their friends list for the person to appear. This feature would ideally enable us to remove individuals from our friend lists without the need to rename or delete our characters, thereby avoiding unwanted complications.

It is noteworthy that the current Terms of Service do not sufficiently protect players from issues like rumormongering and stalking. Unless direct action is taken against a player, options for recourse seem limited. This situation highlights a need for improved measures to ensure player safety and privacy.

My experience has been fortunately limited to minor issues, but I am aware of others in the community who have faced severe problems, such as stalking, real-life threats, and the spreading of false rumors. These issues are often exacerbated by the game being used as a tool for online tracking, though they do not occur within the game environment itself.

In light of these concerns, I kindly appeal to Square Enix to consider implementing a system that enables better control over our friend lists for the safety and well-being of the player community.
