Graphical Update Character Suggestions

Hey FFXIV Team,

Hope you're all doing well! I've been thinking about the graphical character update, and I wanted to share a few thoughts as a dedicated player.

1. Hair Physics: You know, it would be awesome if our characters' hair could move a bit more naturally. Right now, it feels a bit too stiff, and I think some more movement would make a big difference in making the characters feel more real.

2. Skin Tone Changes: Adding a bit more color to our characters' skin, especially in the cheeks, could bring them to life. It's those small details that make a character feel real.

3. Cinematic Feels: I love the cinematics in the game, and it would be cool if our characters could match that vibe a bit more. It's not about making everything feel the same; it's about capturing that "wow" factor especially for new players so the models should look different/better than before.

I get that there's a fine balance, but our characters are a big part of why we love FFXIV so much. Just wanted to throw these ideas out there for consideration.

While many of us would love this as well, I'm not sure they'd be able to implement all of that. FFXIV is built on a game engine that's over ten years old and was meant to run on PS3. Yes, the PS3 was later discontinued, so they were actually able to increase the system requirements and add many more nice things like bigger zones, more objects to display on-screen and whatnot, but FFXIV is still running on previous-gen systems as well. I'm sure if enough people actually raised their voices about these requests, the dev team might consider it one day, if they're able to implement additional details.

Btw, doesn't the character creator let you add color to your cheeks, like blush? Or am I forgetting? It's been a minute lol.

I say for the longevity of the game, these suggestions are critical if they want to keep the game going for another 10 years. Genshin Impact runs on phones which can't compare to the raw power of computers and laptops, and the aesthetics still look great.

Also, not really on the blush. There's face tattoos and a trick I found was to make the most blush-looking tattoo a very warm and pale color so it blends in with the skin. You also need a hairstyle with bangs to cover the upper portion of the face that shows the tattoo since its meant to be a "dirt" tattoo texture. The face options in CC are really lacking lol. They need to update it. Also!! Long hair and eyelashes are important and I need to see these.

Hair physics while cool can be demanding on a gpu. In the witcher 3 when you kick hair physics it only really effects Geralts hair at the cost of some fps. Imagine 40 players in the same area with hair physics active..lol It would be Hell on Eorzea

The game isn't going to tank in five years because it doesn't have hair physics and rosy cheeks. :rolleyes:

Genshin also doesn't have to worry about hundreds of players running around the same area.

I think as technology improves, these suggestions will be more possible for them to implement. I think updating the graphics to keep up with the current times is important.

It does, but at the cost of it taking up the singular face paint option you're allotted. It's wild that we still can't use multiple face paint options at once. THAT is one thing that needs to change.

Speaking of face paints. I haven't watched any of the post-keynote panels for the past few fan fests; do we know if face paint resolutions are being updated alongside the player model textures?

does anyone knows if theres anything about fixing the banana feet ?

In the stream they showed a female miqo model with updated graphics when they were showing off the dye channels and the hands there looked like they were also upgraded, not sure about feet though lmao
