Anyone else confused with the announce of new lifestyle content in Dawntrail?

We didn't get much info from tokyo fanfest on exactly what lifestyle content we are getting but I feel a little bit disappointed. It's called "Cosmic Exploration" and we are apparently visiting different planets?

With the name of "lifestyle" content I expected something a little more cozy. Perhaps it will be, but from the name alone it sounds a little bit like just normal battle content. Are we supposed to be emulating the lifestyle of an astronaut?

I was expecting something like maybe being able to get a pet, and getting to train the pet, and brush it. Or maybe hosting a dinner party and arranging all the details and inviting our favorite NPCs and making it a special event. It would be cool if we could interact with NPCs on a more personal level. Or they could expand systems like fashion report and make it more involved.

It was my dream that we would be able to invite NPCs to come stay with us on the island sanctuary, and we would have to do things to make sure they were comfortable.

I'm not truly disappointed with cosmic exploration, since we don't even know what it is yet. I enjoyed the Loporrit tribe quests in Endwalker. Maybe the name "lifestyle" just made me expect something more explicitly like other games from that category.

there is a lot to speculate but there will definitly be no battle content, we also know that most if not all worlds are dead outside of our own. so we dont have to worry about fighting for that reason.

it seems this will just be a much bigger version of the omnicron beast tribe where we will most like go from planet to planet revitalizing each.

the questions is how/why and in what way is it life style content?

i understand the what is life style content? because i love the fact with IS you didn't have to have a crafter or gatherer lvl'd and they went around the atrocious crafting system in this game for the content. at the very least that is all cosmic exploration has to keep to make me happy.

Well, first example of lifestyle content was Doman Enclave restoration, second example was Ishgardian Restoration and third example is Island Sanctuary. It seems to me like theyre taking a step back and we'll be getting something more similr to Firmament, rather than Sanctuary with Cosmic Exploration, focused on DotH/DotL content, but potentially without timegating and with personalized progression? Something like that. Lifestyle content is ultimately at this point (between restoration and sanctuary) can best be vaguely defined as "non-combat content", so thats the main thing. Plus, the key art made it look pretty cozy to me, tbh, go around and explore places and gather resources to build your cool spaceship or something like that.

We obviously have little to go on, but I would like to imagine the DoL beastribe in Endwalker is playing inspiration for this content. I imagine it might be Ishgard meets Doman, meets little bits of Island. Assuming they took feedback and they said we can do it solo or in a group, might imagine you can progress and complete content in a group like Ishgard but if you come to it late, unlike Ishgard, you can still progress the content as your own.

That is how I wish Ishgard was at least- the community determine the maximum step, and if you're working on it when it's live that also means you will be moving as a team on the 'actual' personal step. Yet if you arrive late the community has pushed the maximum barrier so you just need to make the personal ones. Like Ishgard there may be lingering content after the steps too (fete fates in Ishgard, plus the crafting rewards), so like Island it isn't entirely pointless after max rank.

Whole lot of assumptions but I don't feel too off base in guessing.

I also might wonder if exploratory content will meet at the edges of life style, that could potentially make resources quite effective. It's just because of the exploration keyword but it makes sense in terms of opportunities and position of content, and potentially a way to preserve it longer / easier. If they somehow capture exploration vibe well, on top of being a lifestyle content. Cool!

I liked the island quite a bit, though I had wished they focused less on the charts and tables, so I am hopeful this next piece is going to improve on the idea while adding some more gameified systems. If we can have valuable community work, while also non player participation rotting mechanics... This could be pretty neat. (Rotting as in, the content becomes actively more and more impractical to take part in if you didn't do it earlier).

I'm hopeful / excited for the new lifestyle content.

The Doman Enclave was actually my favorite because you met each of the different characters, got to know them, and helped them solve problems while building up the enclave. The building up of the enclave could have had a bit more gameplay, but the story part of it was really great.

Yeah it was cool. I like they at least included a few exclusive rewards and the donation box. I visit at least once a week. It was interesting they also put some quests there, so it didn't feel entirely separate content. It's a nice area, and I enjoyed it as the beginning idea to lifestyle content.

It's almost assuredly not battle content since just about everyone in the key art for it was in doh/l gear. If I were a betting man I would guess it's going to be some kind of iteration on ishgardian restoration since all we really know about it is that it's going to be less solo oriented than the islands were.

I don't know where you got the idea that it's battle content? I didn't get that at all during the keynote. It seems like Island Sanctuary, in space, with friends.

I only mean "the moon" in a figurative sense. But yeah, think Ishgard Restoration in Space.

Which is hilarious when you think about it. We come to find out a being from our planet destroyed almost all known life in the universe and now we gotta clean up the mess.

probably a mix of enclave and ishgard,perhaps fixing up the residents of ultima thul homes
