FFXIV Has Quit Working
Hello, I purchased FFXIV on release and played for close to a month with no issues. I then returned in may of this year and played for another month, once again with no issues.
My fiancee and I have decided to come back to the game once again, however this time after installing and during the patching process I kept getting the windows "FFXIV has stopped working" message. I was able to just restart the patcher 10x or more and get through the process, as it was random. But now every log in once I have selected my character and begin to log in, it has the same error. Sometimes I can get onto the character and take a step or two, but for the most part it quits working on the load screen.
Does anyone have any insight or idea as to what causes this issue? I appreciate any help. Thank you.

Yep, it's getting worse by the day. I'm getting blue screens of death all of a sudden, and each day they get more frequent. If a rep comes in here asking for your specs just ignore him and move on. Nothing will come of it if you fill out his survey. 2.0 2.0 2.0 here we come.
I think they are just slacking on maintenance to be honest, that combined with increased traffic from returning players and the fact that servers have merged.
EDIT: My only advice is to avoid uldah, which is where most of the crashing occurs for me.

My game is usually crashing at least once a day, but only when I'm inside cities.
If you are getting actual BSODs, there might be something else wrong. A game shouldn't be able to bring down the entire OS unless there is an issue with either hardware or drivers.

Soumds like your hard drive is failing. Id save or back up as much info as you can and do a disk check. The symptoms you are describing, although slowly evolving sound like the hard drive is on its last leg. If that is the case, when it comes time to replace, may i suggest a solid state hard drive? Youll thank me later.

Well, as long as it's only game crashes, it's probably fine. Everyone I play with have these crash issues.
If that was in reply to JackDaniels' BSODs however, I am in agreement. Might not be the HDD, but it's definitely something.

I did a complete re-install this morning and it seems to be working fine. I know, this should have been a first approach to a solution, but I was lazy and hoping to avoid it. (my fiancee must have done something wrong when installing it the other night =p)
Thank you for the responses, and to the others with issues if you have not tried it, I would suggest a re-install.
Also, I had some game files still on my system when I installed it the other night, this time around I deleted every FFXIV file on my computer before doing the install.
