There appears to be a discrepancy in the news that is displayed when logged in vs when logged out.
I also checked the "Top Page" while logged in, and observed this same issue.

Thanks to this, I realized I had missed all the news about the Yoshi-P attending the Japan expo until I happened to be using another browser!
I can confirm this happens using the same browser though too.
