Life Ephemeral, Path Eternal - doable below minimum item level?

I know it syncs down or up but my gear's ilevel is actually about 421, almost 100 levels below the duty's. Should I even bother doing it? I get as far as the Guildavain fight and then I get my ass handed to me. And this is on Very Easy mode

It doesn't sync up. Get better gear.

The only place that "syncs up" is Bozja and Deep Dungeons. And that's because you have predetermined stats regardless of what gear you're wearing in those zones (+haste gear doesn't count)
