Mentor reform megathread

a few ideas i had, you are ofcourse welcome to post your own!

*Change the name from mentor to veteren
*240 days subscribed required.
*mentor status lost after 6 months of inactivity (can be regained by talking to smith and completing all current trails and ex's aswell as longing in for more than 24 in game hours)
*Completion of current ex and all subsiquent ex's required
*Crown removed and changed with medal or shield above players head
*Mentor roulete only pairs you with a player new to that instance
*Mentor roulete now shows job in need and instances recruiting
*Ability to que for mentor on every role and change depending on whats needed when the duty pops (ex i que up, something pops and says "dps needed" "tank needed" ect-)
completion of current NORMAL raid required, *All Aliance raids + Msq (6.5 at time of post) (mb if this is already a thing)
*Increased rewards to incentivise mentors to do roulette even after 2k
*New instanced area designed to teach sprouts how to use esuna, spread for splashes, soak towers and stack markers
*Crafting and battle mentor chats being seperate (honestly this a gripe more than a demand) honestly just massive NN reform in general

I really like the ideas you propose, especially the multi-role queue (even if it would still fall on healer or tank most of the time)

The mentor system does need a overhaul, and I suppose my own suggestions would be:

Add a reputation similar to how BDO has commendations in chat, to elaborate, Players get an icon next to their name that changes with how many commendations they have recieved. It helps players that are actually helpfull and veteran stand out

For the 2k+ Rewards what comes to mind is archievement voucher rewards, Adventurer plate decorations, new title, maybe a new glamour too

And on a bigger level I would like them to require level syncd Ex clears for the mentor unlock (To avoid mentors who did it unsync and instantly leave when an ARR or HW extremes pops)

- mentors now have to wear clown shoes and ride a unicycle.

I love the idea of adventure plate decorations, but i think this game doesnt reinfinfoce commendations well, so maybe commendation reform is also needed. synched clears sounds good too, id be down for that, except moogle mog.. NOOOO

Excellent suggestions. I’d also add better policing of the Novice Network chat channel. I’ve repeatedly reported a person actively thrashing the game in NN, telling sprouts to uninstall the game immediately and even sexualising underage lore NPCs in NN. Nothing was ever done about this person.

NN is in the worst state ever. hope they do something soon. sadly rn its better for mental health to just look away or blist the person. even kicking them can put your account at risk

I thought mentors getting rewards was considered a bad thing, why would we double down and attract further bad actors? And the Mentor system was never meant to be for people who memorized all content, just for people who've been playing a long while to answer questions like a built-in google search considering the mundanity of the topics. This feels like it should be a separate system or someone has attached way too much significance to the Mentor system that it has never had nor was meant to.

The NN is its own can of worms. In my time playing trough a few alts I particularly noticed the Ultros and Brynhildr NN channels try to be as sprout-friendly as they can, even with some topic derailing

On the other hand, im not gonna name them, but I also saw a couple servers with NN chats that were straight up disgusting and/or full of spoilers

Entirley subjective and SE doesnt appear to agree (title,glam,mount for the roulette and Glam + mount for the commendation farm)

Irrelevant point with no real evidence

I strongly disagree with "Completion of current ex and all subsiquent ex's required"
Beeing able to clear EX,Savage,Ultimate does not prove you're good mentor or cannot be a mentor if not.

Mentoring is about helping new players and They're doing MSQ,Normal content!

What this game need is a global chat(s), so all who enters NN just to chat can go there -
no longer has to fill up the NN!
