Has it ever been explained why the dreadlocks hairstyle is gender locked?

I've never understood why the dreadlock hairstyle is gender locked because it would look good on almost all of the male races. It particularly would suit my male viera DNC. Has there ever been mention in the past of why it is only available for females or if it might ever make its way to the male side?:confused:

And speaking of dreadlocks, it would be great to see more options, particular of shorter length.

Agreed! Would also love more textured hair choices or protective styles. I think we only have the locs and the kind of one-joke disco afro. I have a lot of friends who were wanting those hairstyles and I thinkit would be fun to play around with OCs with more unique hair textures.
