Why is it that only FF14, among the major MMOs, require an entire day just to get a new patch in for maintenance?

You know very well they do not and that maintenance normally lasts a few hours or less like other MMOs. This one is 24 hours due to infrastructure maintenance.
The only reason other MMOs might not need infrastructure maintenance is due to using cloud servers. -
