Really wish we had a third tier of mount speed in older zones

And make it affect flight speed. I know, I know. I'm killing the overworld with this suggestion, but am I really?

Think about it this way instead. There's a lot of zones in this game. 4 expansions worth, with another to be added Dawntrail. That's a lot of places for people to be spread out across. Sooooo, if you really wanted to crowd the overworld and make it feel more lively, your best bet isn't to try to achieve success across every zone. Instead, you should attempt to funnel activity into the latest zones.

So, after you complete an expansion's patch content allow people to do something that gives them a third tier of mount speed(or make flying faster). My preference would be something like clear out 5-10 fates in a zone, but there's other possible options that fit I'm sure. This will let people conduct their business in older zones faster. Being able to do whatever they want there will allow them to spend more time in newer zones doing whatever.

For some reason traveling on the ground is slower than flying in the air, ground travel could use some speed.

The mount speed increases only affect ground travel, not flying.

You can increase the ground speed to be about as fast in ARR, HW and SB areas by hunting. They forgot about this system after that so we didn't get upgrades in ShB and so far we haven't in EW either. However, all the ground speed in the world doesn't change that you can't run over mountains and walls on the ground, so flying is faster because of that.

It should affect flying too in my opinion, or give us a way to increase it.

Maybe slow your mind.....its cheaper and more realistic.

Given that speed boosts only affect ground speed, I feel like the ARR zones had already reached a maximum comfortable moving speed without just crashing into things because you're going too fast to steer.

A flight speed boost would be nice though.

They haven't forgotten about it. You need to buy the maps from Bicolor Gemstone vendors.

What are you doing that requires you to go at breakneck speeds through Middle La Noscea?

I'd prefer if there wasn't multiple tiers of flight speed. Hunt trains would get annoying if half the players were much faster than the other half, and there was arguments all the time about it. Bozja had that issue where occasionally people doing fates would just not have the mount speed in southern front you get from zadnor and they would just get 0 credit on fates because they were too slow to get there in time to land hits.
